Erik Estrada in Self-Deprecating BK Commercial Shock!
He may not look as hot as in this classic photo, taken from his freeway-crime-fightin' heyday, but he's not bad for 60. Just one question: Where can I get those sunglasses?
"Ponch" developed a large fan base in the Spanish-speaking world after "CHiPs". He starred in a telenovela that ran almost a year, "Dos Mujeres, Un Camino". During the almost daliy filming in México, US-born Estrada improved his command of Spanish markedly.
"Dos Mujeres, Un Camino (two women, one road)" was an unusually long and popular novela, the Latino equivalent of the daily soaps here, except they do have endings, albeit sometimes nebulous, allowing for a sequel or two.
Yes, I was surprised to find out he wasn't born in Puerto Rico but in Harlem (he's second generation). Oh, god, those telenovelas are hilariously bad! I used to watch them in Spain when I lived there - awful acting, but great for practicing the lingo!
