If your exposure to Native American culture is limited to Dances With Wolves, you ought to come down to Long Beach's Shoreline Village tomorrow.

There will be a Native American Festival going on there from 1:00pm-6:00pm. Watch live Native American dancing. Listen to singing, music, and story telling. Browse and buy stuff from vendors and marvel at a lodging display...and of course, there will be food. Native American food.

What constitutes Native American food? Go and find out why don't you?

Admission is free.

Or, you can go to the library and check out books about the Acjachemen and Chumash and the Tongva and the true story of the Nicoleño woman on San Nicholas Island (Island of the Blue Dolphins is a book/movie about this) or the Laguna Woman's skull (estimated to be 12000 -18000 years old)  found above Laguna Beach.

But whatever you do, make sure you understand how your favorite Catholic Church "gave jobs" (think "Roots") to the indigenous people and the Spaniards "intermarried" (as in Kobe Bryant was accused of "intermarrying" the hotel worker in Denver several years ago).
