How to Make It: Chik-fil-A-Style Chicken Nuggets and Sauce

Ain't no chicken glue here!

Chicken nuggets have a special place in my heart. Besides being delicious, they're nostalgic and take me back to the days of cardboard food boxes and tiny toys. Chick-fil-A to me, though, is wifey status. They take the beautiful, chicken-chunky days of yore to an entire different level of tastiness. There are few things in life as wonderful as their hot crispy bite-sized pieces of chicken, waffle fries and sweet tea. Seriously, I have a hard time naming three things better than that.

As a Southern girl, Chick-fil-A was much more than just a fast-food restaurant. It was a home. Thankfully, this beauty is out on the west coast, but when I saw this DIY recipe for their nuggets and God-given (pun intended) Chick-fil-A sauce, I had to try it out.

This recipe will leave you saying my pleasure.

DIY Chik-fil-A Chicken Nuggets and Sauce

Ingredients for nuggets:
• 3 boneless chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces
• 2 cups flour
• ¼ cup powdered sugar
• 1 Tbsp salt
• 1 Tbsp pepper
• 1 tsp paprika
• Canola oil

Ingredients for sauce:
• ½ cup mayonnaise
• 2 tsp mustard
• 2 Tbsp honey
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• 1 Tbsp BBQ sauce

Directions:
1. In a large saucepot, 1-inch of oil on medium heat. To test if it's hot enough, drop a little flour into it. If it sizzles, you're good. If oil starts to smoke, lower heat.
2. In a gallon-size closeable bag, combine flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper and paprika. Shake to combine.
3. Place bite-sized chicken into the plastic bag and shake to coat with breading.
4. Place coated chicken into heated oil, cooking only 10-15 at a time. Cook for about 5 minutes.
5. Remove nuggets when golden brown and place on a paper towel lined plate.
6. Combine all sauce ingredients into a bowl and serve with hot nuggets.

Although this recipe makes pretty close to the real deal, (like, I'm talking slight smoky flavor of the breading and balance of sweet and savory in the sauce close) the amount of time it takes to actually make these is almost a little much.

Here's my advice, take your $7-ish and go to your closest Chick-fil-A right now. Completely worth it.
