Hippity-Hop to Slater's 50/50 for their 'Roo Burger, Made of--You Guessed It!--Kangaroo Meat

roo_burger.jpg
Time was when Michelle Woo would let all of us know about Slater's 50/50's latest insane burger, but since she's no longer with us :-(, I guess I got the honors. And this one just might be the most insane burger yet: a patty made with 50 percent bacon (of course)...and 50 percent kangaroo meat.

Bust out all your Crocodile Dundee lines here, por favor.

It's Slater's Burger of the Month for September, and their press release describes it as "super lean and slightly controversial." Ya think?

We've yet to try it, or kangaroo meat, but it sure sounds tasty--and the accompaniments (melted brie, thick-cut bacon, huckleberry ketchup, crushed macadamia ricotta, baby greens, radish slices, all on a honey wheat bun) already makes it a must-eat. Hip-hop hooray!

BFD Jack-in-the-Box did that decades ago. They tried to pass it off as beef and got into trouble, though.

Has the OC Weekly really dropped to the stupefying level of including emoticons in its articles? I don't know if that's more disrespectful to your own intelligence or your readers. You should stop now, you're humiliating yourself as a journalist.

Didn't Jack in the Box have this problem in the 80's serving Kangaroo meat. I think so.

Why not rat meat, too? Not subway rats. Rats raised for burgers.

Of course, not. That's disgusting. Wait, did you say bacon?

I ate kangaroo in Australia and it tastes pretty close to beef, just a lot leaner.

They shouldn't have the brie melted on top. I think it should be inside a pouch of the burger.

@Rick Hale - According to acquaintances 'down under', the roo's are considered to be on the population scale of rats.

@haleyeaton I see. So in your version of the future, literacy and education are defunct and journalists are to be held to the same standards as high school juniors texting each other about prom? How fun for you.

@ProudToBeLiterate @haleyeaton - Blogs or Print - Couldn't agree with you more. Journalism has gone the way of paper to wrap fish-n-chips.  Or, in this case; to wrap a Roo Burger.
