Kobayashi Aims To Break Taco-Eating World Record At US Open of Surfing This Sunday

Gringo Bandito
He's back, and he's hungry. Competitive-eating legend Takeru Kobayashi returns as a competitor in the Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge, happening this Sunday at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach.

Last year, Kobayashi broke the world record by scarfing down 106 tacos in 10 minutes. The year before that, he devoured 81. (Here's the disgusting play-by-play.) Will he reign again? Or will he be dethroned by Furious Pete? Will someone spew? We'll have to wait and find out.

The annual taco-eating contest was created by Dexter Holland, Offspring frontman and founder of the Gringo Bandito line of hot sauces. Check it out on the US Open of Surfing main stage at 3 p.m.

Didn't see Kobayashi at the Nathan's Dogs event, but then again Joey Chestnut destroyed him last I checked. Good to see him trying new foods...

I think I would rather get sick eating too much chronic tacos that all the hot dogs you can eat!

Suckayashi is a tool. The guy is a wuss by not signing a contract with Major League Eating. Everyone else did, except for him. That's why he will never compete at the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest. Long live Joey Chestnut.

@Derek Saclolo Maybe it's because he's banned from the event for not giving up his sponser's money
