In-N-Out's Monkey Style Burger: A Hoax?

Categories: Chain Reactions

Was the greatest food discovery since bacon doughnuts a hoax? In-N-Out officials and hungry investigators say yes.

Last week, Foodbeast announced an In-N-Out secret-menu item we'd never heard of: the Monkey Style burger. It's a burger stuffed with Animal Style fries (french fries, cheese, grilled onions and spread). Yep. Commence freak-out in 5-4-3-2 ...

Although Foodbeast made the disclaimer that "many cashiers aren't familiar with Monkey Style, or simply shy away from creating it due to its possible disruptive nature to the back of the house," an In-N-Out rep says it doesn't exist at all.

Carl Van Fleet, vice president of planning and development at In-N-Out, told LAist, "There is no such thing. It seems to be a story that originated somewhere in cyberspace. For a variety of reasons, we're unable to prepare burgers in the manner that a few websites have described as 'Monkey Style.'"

Customers, too, have been fruitless in their quests, getting confused stares when they mention the words Monkey Style. Naader Reda of FreakEating documented his attempt to get his hands on the mystical burger. See the video on the next page.
