The Mochi Donut Arrives At Mitsuwa Costa Mesa

It seems that it is the year of the donut hybrid. You've probably heard of a little thing called the Cronut (croissant + donut), which now has its own black market. And on National Donut Day earlier this month, CoolHaus in Culver City sold a donut ice cream sandwich, which I guess isn't exactly new because ohmygawd LOOK AT THIS MADNESS.

Now here in OC, we have this. Behold, the Mochido, aka the mochi donut. Made by Mochi Cream, a shop inside Mitsuwa Marketplace, the chewy confection is basically a coated ring of mochi filled with cream and a glaze-like sauce. It comes in flavors such as raspberry custard, peach yogurt, strawberry shortcake, double mango and cafe au alit.

Mochidos descended upon Mochi Cream's Torrance location back in April but we haven't seen them at the one in Costa Mesa until now.

Yvonne Hsieh Some flavors are great, others are not. Liked the chocolate, raspberry and mocha!
