Woman Named "Virginia" Goes to Starbucks, Gets "Vagina" Written On Her Cup

Categories: Really?!?!?

It was bound to happen sooner or later: A Starbucks barista, either having misheard the name "Virginia" or unable to spell it, wrote "Vagina" on a customer's cup.

The image above was snapped by Virginia Goh after she received her drink order at a Starbucks in Hong Kong; it was then posted on the Starbucks Facebook page by her sister Veronica, who complained.

Veronica Goh said that it wasn't the first time Virginia's name was mangled by baristas.

"Her cup was once 'Virgin.' Every Starbucks experience for her has been coupled with fear and anticipation. But THIS is just UNACCEPTABLE," she wrote.

Oh, calm down. My name gets all sorts of errors, I get over it.    If you are in USA or UK and have the Vietnamese name Dung.. Then you have may have concerns to worry about.

Quote by Ms. Virginia, "Every Starbucks for her (Virginia) has been coupled with fear and anticipation." Mmmm...A Solution. Bring YOUR OWN PRE-WRITTEN CUP and YOUR NAME Will ALWAYS BE SPELLED CORRECTLY. :)

My husband's name is Barry, every time he goes they butcher his name ... his cup has said Berry, Mary, and Very!... now he just says his name is Bill so as not to confuse them.

I am sure her life and mental/emotional health is now ruined...time to sue for $100mil in damages...

this headline is so disingenuous. It was in Hong Kong. I would not want to see what a barista might write in Irvine.

Let me guess: we're going to sue for emotional pain and suffering. And demand a public apology. And go on the talk show circuit.

Grow the fuck up and get over it.

Oh no someone in a foreign country misspelled an English name and the woman is such a delicate flower that she is crippled with fear and anxiety. Ask an Asian with the last name 'Phuc' in the US what their experience is with spelling/pronunciation. Is this even news?

It's hilarious but it isn't RUDE. You're in their country where they've probably never even heard the name Virginia.

That's so rude! When I was staying in Hong Kong I actually only went to one Starbucks there and I remember they didn't even write my name since it was too difficult for them (Dominique).

Rather nice penmanship though! Pretty. (& just maybe, that's her real name)

@CalNewsEditor They were in Hong Kong. Virginia's not a common name in Cantonese. She needs to spell it out, or use a fake name like my friend Sigrid does.
