The Lost Bean Wine Bar Now Open In Tustin

Back in July, Edwin reported news of a local coffeehouse expanding. We assumed it would be more seating for the cozy Lost Bean. We even experienced some of the demolition first hand, as dishware crashed from a shelf while they pounded on walls. However, they had something else in mind (not that we're complaining).

The good news is that expansion is complete. If you were looking for more caffeine, you're out of luck. Instead, revel in the pleasant surprise we encountered last week. Owner Bodie Rasmussen opened a wine bar.

Stepping into the swankiest Ikea inspiration room, minimalistic light fixtures dropped down from the ceiling, shining bright like a diamond over wooden stools. Matching countertops swooped up at one end as a feng shui accent. More wine riddler than domino, their mix of textures and hues felt like the square peg in a plaza built on Continental Nieuport 17 and Christakis Greek Cuisine. We were enamored.

For now, if you peruse their website, evidence of this is nonexistent. Yet their recent Facebook update gives the best introduction:

"The Lost Bean has changed its status from "Single" to "in a committed relationship" with the awesome new wine bar next door! Come out and spend some time with our new special friend."

Beverage selections start at six dollars, including a sangria, an Australian T-Series Shiraz (2009), Quivira Zinfandel (2010) out of Dry Creek Valley, and a HCV Merlot (2010) from Happy Canyon Valley of Santa Barbara. Adjacent to Tustin Brewing Company, this plaza has officially hit triple threat status: specialty beer, trendy coffee and wine bar. Salut!
