Haven Brewing BeersHello World ($2 taster)American Pale Ale | ABV - 6.3% | IBU - 73 | SRM - 14.4Hops - Centennial, Warrior, Cascade and ColumbusYeast - American Ale YeastHello World is a well-balanced pale ale done in west coast fashion. This beer starts off with a slight hoppy nose and has a shiny copper color. The mouth feel is well rounded, and the finish is smooth and easy drinking. This is the first beer brewed by Haven Brewing. The name comes from computer programming. When a new program is written the first line displayed is "Hello World." We at Haven Brewing thought it was pretty fitting for our very first beer. HELLO WORLD!upRYEsing ($2 taster)Rye IPA | ABV - 6.5% | IBU - 81 | SRM - 17Hops - Columbus, Centennial and CascadeYeast - American Ale YeastupRYEsing is made with 21% rye and is an IPA. It has a bready, hoppy finish and has a reddish tint. This beer will please any hophead out there.Hafen Hefe ($2 taster)Bavarian Wheat Beer | ABV - 5% | IBU - 13.5 | SRM - 3.9Hops - HallertauYeast - WeihenstephanA Bavarian-style hefeweizen, with just the smallest hint of banana, and a clove and citrus backbone. It is a hazy hay-colored hue, and the finish is clean. It is with Bohemian floor-malted grains in one of the last Czech Republic Bohemian-style malting plants; floor malting is an old world process of germinating and drying malts. This process is done by hand and takes 3 to 4 days longer than newer, more industrial methods, giving you a pronounced robust and traditional feel and taste. Simply put, this is a great summer beer. The Germans would say "fur den Sommer" which means "for summer." Enjoy with friends, on a grassy hill, all day long.Gross National Happiness ($2 taster)Cream Ale | ABV - 5% | IBU - 20 | SRM - 5.2Hops - Summit and TettnagerYeast - American Ale YeastGross National Happiness, or GNH, as we like to call it, is made with 110 Pounds of Heirloom Bhutanese Red Rice. This beer has a golden wheat hue and is an easy drinking beer - perfect for the hot days of summer. The name "Gross National Happiness" comes from the kingdom of Bhutan. It is one of the last countries where the monarch ruled, and the kingdom has remained blissfully untouched by the outside world. This has very recently given way smoothly to a democratic government, when the ruling king himself asked for this change. This and many such anecdotes show the very different thinking of the people of this exquisite county where GNH (Gross National Happiness) is considered more important than the GDP (Gross Domestic Product).Diana Brown ($2 taster)American Brown Ale | ABV - 6.5% | IBU - 28.3 | SRM - 22Hops - Columbus, Nugget, and WillametteYeast - American Ale YeastA malty American brown ale with notes of hazelnut, cocoa powder, and finishing dry with flavors reminiscent of old fashioned root beer barrel candies.Brewmaster's Breakfast ($2 taster)Breakfast Stout/Oatmeal Stout | ABV - 7.5% | IBU - 86.5 | SRM - 35Hops - Centennial and CascadeYeast - American AleThis stout is every thing breakfast; Oatmeal, Coffee bitterness, chocolate, toasty, roasty and a little smokey. This beer will stain your teeth like a cup of black coffee in the morning. Brewmaster's Breakfast starts off with a thick, brown, smokey head, that you could scoop out with a spoon. The body is complex and robust, just enough to wake up your senses. The beer finishes dry and crisp, with west coast hops leaving you wanting more.100 Rubles ($3 taster or 10 oz pour for $6)Imperial Russian Stout | ABV - 12% | IBU - 75 | SRM - 37Hops - Galena, Northern Brewer and CentennialYeast - American Ale YeastThis Russian imperial stout is extremely balanced, boasts a whopping 12% ABV, and has notesof bitter cocoa and coffee. The name comes from a law that Peter the Great enacted, in which you were allowed to keep your beard if you paid a beard tax of up to "100 Rubles." Most brewers have beards at one point or another, including ours.Sosigenes ($3 taster or 16 oz pour for $7)Double IPA | ABV - 8.2 | IBU - 248 | SRM - 9.6Hops - Warrior, Glacier, Galena, Chinook, Columbus and CentennialYeast - American Ale YeastSosigenes is most definitely a west coast style double IPA using all American malts and generously hopping with Warrior, Glacier, Galena, Chinook, Columbus and Centennial. The name Sosigenes comes from Sosigenes of Alexandria, who was credited by Pliny the Elder, as the astronomer consulted by Julius Caesar for the design of the Julian calendar (Leap Year). This occurred in 45 BC, the very first Leap Year. This beer was made on leap year day, February 29th 2012, hence the name. Also, we at Haven Brewing would like to point out that we think it's pretty cool that Pliny the Elder named him.
