Taco Bell Sells 100 Million Doritos Locos Tacos in 10 Weeks

Categories: Our Taco Hells
If you were wondering how many people would pay money for a taco made with a Doritos shell, the answer is: a lot. Taco Bell sold 100 million of its much-talked-and-tweeted-about Doritos Locos Tacos in the last 10 weeks, the Orange County Register reports. That makes it the most successful product launch in company's 50-year history.

The Crunchwrap Supreme previously held the title. When it was launched in 2005, it became so popular that they gave it a permanent spot on the menu.

Whether the thought of Taco Bell makes you drool or gag, the Irvine chain has been having a damn good year. It seems that the fake beef lawsuit of 2011, which could have been a destroyer, has only made the company stronger--and crazier.

Expect more zaniness soon, starting with the Doritos Locos Tacos Cool Ranch edition.

I've been hearing that it tastes pretty good. I'll definitely check out our local chain, hopefully they still have it up on their menu.
