When you're not in the kitchen cooking, what are you doing?
Sleeping or cleaning my house and doing laundry. Oh, eating out somewhere.
Name your favorite classic country and speed metal artists.
Johnny Cash, Hank the First, Shooter Jennings, and as for speed metal, Slayer, of course.
Yes, I get phone calls all of the time asking if I am Ryan Adams, the songwriter. My response is, "If I were, do you think you would be talking to me right now?"
Where did you grow up?
Orange County - Laguna Hills/Laguna Niguel area.
Hardest lesson you've learned:
Humility.
What's your favorite childhood memory?
Surfing at Salt Creek on a cold fall morning when the steam is rising off of the water and a swell of 4 to 6 feet high is rolling and the wind is perfectly still. That day is still ingrained in my memory. I was 16.
Tell me about a favorite vintage car.
My favorite is The Pierson Brothers 1934 Ford Coupe. It was known as the coupe that beat the roadsters. [
What were you up to five years ago?
Running 9-1/2 restaurants in Southern California.
Where do you like to surf?
All over but I grew up surfing at Salt Creek
Last book you read:
Still reading it: Blood, Bones and Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton.
Do you have any skills that are non-food related?
Welding, construction, gardening and metal fabrication.
What would you be doing if you weren't in this business?
I would say either a race car driver or a scout sniper.
