On Second Street where Naples ends and Belmont Shore begins, there used to be a great hot dog joint called
The Dog House, which was itself an offshoot and subsidiary of Barry's Beach Shack next door. The Dog House didn't last long and neither did Barry's after it folded.
Now we see its replacement: a seafood restaurant and fish market (what seafood restaurant these days isn't also a fish market?) called Roe. The restaurant should open soon, but it's immediately notable because it has a familiar face to these pages.
Cody Requejo, the sushi chef at the defunct The Retreat, buddy of recently anointed
Stick A Fork In It contributor and chef
Dave Mau, is going to come on board.
There's currently nothing but a whole bunch of stock photos and not-so-subtle hints that the restaurant will buy from Carlsbad Aquafarms on its
Facebook site, but with the moonlighting sushi chef and rock band guitarist Requejo as part of the kitchen team, Roe should, at the very least, be interesting.
