• Can you give us some examples of GOP racism?  I'd like to see what you're basing that comment on.  Also, what do you think about Black Republicans, who espouse personal achievement and responsibility?  Are they betraying their race?  In my opinion, no.  If i'm correct, this post started about someone drawing Asian eyes on a cup.  I think we're all agreed that it was inappropriate, and wrong.  To make a statement about a large segment of the population,(Republicans) based on that incident, is just wrong.  We can get into it about which Party is the most giving and compassionate, but the Repubs will win, hands down.  I base that on charitable contributions, religious outreaching, and volunteering efforts.  Do some research, not all volunteering and charitable efforts are conducted by the Susan Komen Foundation.

• Really? Who sent the response? When? The Starbuck's website makes no mention of this anywhere -- and no one else seems to have received a similar reponse. Did you talk to the manager of the store to determine if this event took place and if the individual was actually fired? Passing along rumors -- stories not based on actual investigation and conversation with those directly involved -- contributes to the ignorance and hostility in the world. Bloggers need to learn the basics.

• Bozo, do you know why Starbucks baristas write on the cups in the first place? The primary reason is so that orders don't get mixed up, but it's also to "personalize" the experience as much as possible. That's why 99.9999% of the time, it's the customer's NAME that's written. Sometimes, baristas will also write cute greetings or messages as well, which makes the customer feel like they are welcome there. Drawing the slant eyes on the cup basically implies that the customer's name wasn't even worth learning because their being Asian was all that information they needed. It doesn't matter if it's true that they were Asian. The act reduces a customer from a person to a "type." It's the equivalent of drawing a fat person on the cup of an overweight customer. Even if it's true that the customer is fat, drawing it on the cup would still be unacceptable. Or do you think otherwise? If so, I'd love to hear your rationale.

• I remember in the 90's in Mississippi a group of black men went into a restaurant and were given extremely poor service.  They complained about discrimination and the owners thought they'd get away with denying it had happened.  Unfortunately for the owners, the men were Feds (Secret Service) and the settlement was expensive and publicity was very bad for the restaurant chain.  

• Yeah, you are so far off base its ridiculous...  I'm not even going to rehash the deal with the civil rights act of 1964 and who did and didn't support it and or what party EVERY southern governor was during the freedom rides or the marches... Or what President sent troops to a southern state to enforce integration. Or that fact that it was the democrats that introduced every entitlement program that is bankrupting the state and country...  You know who the racists are?  The people who tell you that your your place in life is predetermined and that because you may be a minority you will never get ahead because the man will bring you down and you might as well just be content and nuzzle up to the teet of public assistance.

• The republican party has been a haven for racists for some time. They are out in the open with it now. The Koch's, Rove, Limbaugh, Murdoch, and all the others need to keep racism alive in order to form a base of support to get their republicans elected. Without republicans in office, the country would be solvent, prosperous, personal liberties would be better protected, and we'd be on course to be the ideal of all nations... this would also mean fair taxes for the super rich and other controls they do not want. Hatred is the glue that forms the republican base and that's why the fires of hatred is stoked by republican backers and leaders. Their elected leaders pander to the hatred of these voters in order to get elected and keep their base angry and galvanized. It's time someone said this out loud. Most of us already know it.

I mentioned that it kinda reminds me about the time that I was called a fucking round eye by a Filipino which didn't hurt my feelings in fact I thought it was funny.  And whats the response from Mike and JZ? 1) it must of been my fault... 2) what a luxurious life you have lead being white etc...
