Another Fatburger Closes

There used to be two Fatburgers in Irvine. Now, there are none. The Fatburger at Park Place, on Michelson and Jamboree, is finally closed, following other Fatburgers in the area to oblivion. The company had long ago already filed for bankruptcy.

I'd thought this one would survive. It stood tall even as the Edwards Cinemas it abutted was razed. It seemed to go on even as the likes of Five Guys, The Habit, and all the other new burger entrants came on the scene. I knew it had to be struggling when it plastered my office with buy-one-get-one-free coupons; but when I visited last month during a weekday, lunchtime was as busy as ever. So it came as a surprise when I saw the place dark and gutted last night.

It appears that it officially shuttered within the last few weeks. The last of "The Last Great Hamburger Stand" in OC exists in two places: the Buena Park location and the one in Aliso Viejo. How long they'll be around is anybody's guess.

Five guys is garbage.  Its been cold and squished both times ive tried it.  Never again.  Go back to the east coast.

Let me ask you... When you pulled it out of the bag, didnt it look like a foil wrapped baseball?

And perhaps we are on to something... East coast, they think white castle is good! The only time white castle is good is at 2:30 AM after the bar closes.

Whoa whoa whoa...White Castle hamburgers are great, any time of the day.  But I will admit, you either love 'em , or hate 'em.

And the bars close at 4 in Nueva York, Jeffy!  I think only Miami (5 a.m.) and Vegas and Atlantic City (24/7) are serving as late!

The Fatburger I always felt sorry for was the one in Orange at the Mall of Orange.......being across the street from an In N Out couldn't be good for worker morale........Fatburger would be empty while the In N Out drive thru would be lined up out on Tustin ave.....Ouch!

After TK Burger, Fatburger would be my second choice in that genre.  It is sad that they are disappearing.

I like how Mr. Goei characterized the Park Place outlet as "finally" closing...it's like when you found out that Karl Malden or Fred Macmurray died, and you say to yourself, "Didn't they die years ago?"

The only negative about Fatburger is the wait time, but quality is a slow process.  And I agree with 909Jeff...what is with the popularity of Five Guys?

Its a shame because fatburger is a legit burger joint..  I dont get the popularity with five guys?  I should probably go try it again... But the first time I went it was 17 bucks for 2 burgers 1 fries and 2 drinks... and it all came wadded up in foil and crammed into a bag... and it wasnt that good!
