Anthony Bourdain's Comic Book Now On Pre-Order! Yes, I Said Comic Book.

Anthony Bourdain. Chef. Author. Travel show host. Novelist. And now a comic book creator?!

The man who seems to say everything and do everything (His new show The Layover premiered a month ago) has written a graphic novel about "a renegade and ruthless sushi chef, known to decapitate patrons who dare request a California Roll." Hmm...I think I know that guy...

He actually announced the project nearly a year ago and hawked it at Comic Con. But now we have a release date (July 3rd, 2012) and the above cover image of Jiro, his badass itamae.

And if the comic book is as kooky as the description they've put up on the Amazon pre-order page, we're in for a treat.

Here's what it says:

In a not-too-distant future L.A. where master chefs rule the town like crime lords and people literally kill for a seat at the best restaurants, a bloody culinary war is raging.

On one side, the Internationalists, who blend foods from all over the world into exotic delights. On the other, the "Vertical Farm," who prepare nothing but organic, vegetarian, macrobiotic dishes. Into this maelstrom steps Jiro, a renegade and ruthless sushi chef, known to decapitate patrons who dare request a California Roll, or who stir wasabi into their soy sauce. Both sides want Jiro to join their factions. Jiro, however has bigger ideas, and in the end, no chef may be left alive!

By the way, speaking of Travel Channel hosts doing things out of character, did you see Samantha Brown's awesome performance on Bourdain's No Reservations holiday show? Who knew she can act and had such a good sense of comic timing!?

I include the segment for your viewing pleasure below...

You're welcome.

Tthis was a dream come true..all the things that Tony ridicules come back to haunt him, especially Samantha Brown, and lo and behold...the old world cuisine actually seems to rescue Tony from the misma his life has become!  A true Christmas classic was born!!!
