Genki Sushi, a kaiten (revolving) sushi restaurant that's huge in Hawaii and has spread to Seattle, will open its first California location in the Westfield MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana. The sushi-ya will be located on the first floor near JCPenney, next to the children's train ride. It looks to be replacing the failed Sanrio store.

The chain is known for conveyor-belt sushi and low prices; most dishes are $1, $1.50 or $2, and a few of the special dishes, such as udon and chawanmushi, are $3. You pay according to what you take off the belt.

Stay tuned for an opening date and initial impressions from the Forkers.

Looking forward to trying this one.  Sushilicious (Irvine) has a lunch special that will fill you up 5 dishes for $10.

Sounds like there may be a Turf War... There is a Genki Sushi in Chino and a Genki Sushi in Westlake Village.... (only share in the name)

I have eaten at this particular incarnation at the Waikele center... Eh.. It was ok.  easy to get carried away though.
