Let's forgo the clichéd turkey-and-stuffing beginning to any obesity story that comes out around Thanksgiving, shall we? And now, on to the sobering news: a Gallup poll published this month that, on average, American men and women are 20 pounds fatter than they were in 1990--so fat, in fact, that we're getting farther and farther away from out ideal-weight goal.

LiveScience has the story. Men on average are 196 pounds, while women tip the scales at 160 pounds. Each sex respectively wants to weigh 181 and 138 pounds, both figures that Gallup say are higher than what the wished-for weights of Americans were in 1990.

I'm only surprised it's just 20. Twenty years ago, I would've been around 130 pounds as a sixth-grade weakling. Now, I'm about 170 pounds as a Weekling--okay, bad joke...
