The Cadillac Culinary Challenge Test Drive pulls up to Irvine Spectrum this Saturday and Sunday. Why this sounds more like a hybrid between Cars and Coffee and the Top Chef Tour is a conundrum we'll never know the answer to. At least they're offering sleek cars and free eats!

Fast and furious test drives are offered throughout the day, with brands such as BMW, Lexus and Mercedes on hand to compare. But if you're there for the cheftestants . . .

. . . The Winery's Yvon Goetz will be battling it out with Top Chef Master/sweetheart Mary Sue Milliken (of Border Grill fame).

There's no even hint about mystery ingredients, but fortunately, multiple showdowns are scheduled throughout the day at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Seating is first-come-first-served for this free event. Temperatures are expected to dip back down to manageable numbers this weekend, but we suggest sunscreen and bottled water, just in case.

Hitting the road since May, previous contenders included Jonathan Waxman, Duff Goldman and David Burke. While this is an open gathering, we had some technical difficulties securing a spot for the party. Here is the link to Cadillac's event website for more information. Maybe you'll have better luck.
