So 134 days after the 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, it was discovered that two goldfish left behind in a 26-gallon tank inside an area declared off-limits survived without being fed or a working filter.

There's speculation that the fish--named Daphne and Shaggy after the Scooby Doo characters--lived off the algae and nibbled off the seaweed in their tank to survive. But the most likely explanation is a little more insidious. You see, there were originally six fish in the tank. Two are alive, one was dead, and there was no trace of the other three.

It may be safe to say that the rest of the gang (who I assume would have to be named Fred, Velma, Scooby and Scrappy) suffered the same fate of members of the Donner party and those Uruguyan soccer players whose plane crashed in the Andes. Besides, in the cartoon, Shaggy seemed to always have the munchies, didn't he? And it makes perfect sense why he'd spare Daphne, the pretty girl.
