Oh, alcohol! Without you, this column wouldn't be as fun to write! Drunkeness at Taco Bell has led to employees fighting each others, customers sleeping in parking lots--and now, a hungry customer driving up for a snack but passing out before he could reach the window.

Of course, if you're from Appleton, Wisconsin, what else is there to do except that and joining the John Birch Society?

A 27-year-old Appleton man with four previous drunk-driving convictions faces DUI and drug charges after police found him passed out in the drive-through lane at Taco Bell.

According to a criminal complaint, employees at Taco Bell on Richmond Street called police after 3 o'clock Wednesday morning that the driver had been passed out for 20 minutes with the car still running and the headlights on.

Police say they found the driver slumped with his head to his knees, drooling, and snoring. They say initially the driver didn't respond when they tried to wake him. And when he did wake, he revved the gas pedal and tried to move the gear shift. When an officer turned off the ignition, the driver started the car again, and revved the engine again, then the officer removed the keys.

When they got him out of the car he almost fell to the concrete and didn't seem to know where he was. Police say when they asked if he knew, he said he was at a bar and referred to the car as a taxi.
