Ramen Shop Owner Who Lost His Home in Japan Tsunami Gives Away Noodles

• My first inclination was that you were off-base, thinking of some counter-examples, then the mayhem following Katrina came to mind ... so my take is yes and no.

• Seems like this could be a way to bypass the corporate charity machines and get some money directly to where it could help some folks.

• The ramen shop's owner is Tate Hideshi ( 舘秀司さん ) of Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan (岩手県 宮古市). I didn't catch the name of the shop and couldn't connect his name to a shop in a quick search. I, too, hope someone knows how he can be reached.

• CNN - please provide, if possible, contact information for this shop owner. I, too, would like to donate to this man so he can continue to run his shop and provide a warm meal to his fellow community members.

• The Japanese people are kind, respectful and patient as evidenced by their demeanor during their most difficult time. You think people would be that way here in similar circumstances? Not a chance.....looting and rioting would be rampant everywhere!
