Our Pick for 'Best Restaurant That Will Probably Close Soon' Actually Did

It was a tongue-in-cheek thing we did when we picked Four Seasons Hot Pot in Garden Grove as "Best Restaurant That Will Probably Close Soon" for our annual Best Of Issue last year. But apparently we were more right than we realized. Four Seasons Hot Pot officially shuttered sometime earlier this year, and a new place, another Chinese hot pot restaurant called The Red Pot, has taken its place.
The Red Pot uses the same induction-hot-plate-quipped tables as its predecessor, but the differences between the old and the new seem as great as the spice differential in the hot and mild broths. While Four Seasons used to price all its items by the plate, The Red Pot is an all-you-can-eat restaurant during dinner (adults, $19.99; children, $12.99), and lunch between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. ($14.99). It has an $8.99 non-AYCE lunch option, as well. And it boasts six different soup bases while Four Seasons offered about three.
Finally, the perennially besuited but friendly owner of Four Seasons can now retire his tie.
