Are the Days of Chain Restaurants Hiring Illegal Immigrants Over?

Thumbnail image for Chipotle.jpg
Back in my Anaheim High School days, students who worked did so at one of two spots: the Carl's Jr. on Broadway and Harbor Boulevard, or the Family Fun Center (which mostly hired people from Valencia High, but that's another story). Imagine my surprise five years after graduation, when most of the Carl's employees were adult Mexicans. I'm not the one who did the hiring, but let's just say I knew more than a few illegal immigrants who worked at Carl's, McDonald's and other chain restaurants--and that the people who hired them knew exactly what the legal status of their employees are.

I don't care who hires who, of course, being an Aztlanista and all. But the days of chain restaurants hiring illegal immigrants are probably over.

For the past couple of months, Chipotle has been firing employees who can't verify their legal status, much to the consternation of immigrant advocates, who rightly point out that Chipotle can't claim ignorance. It's gotten so bad that Chipotle workers are now quitting before the feds get at them.

Nation's Restaurant News did a story on the trend earlier this week, with Pei Wei playing the ignorant part. Instead of throwing their workers under the bus, they, Chipotle and others should stick by their employees--yeah, right. . . .

WHY ARE WE BANKRUPT?

You think the war is costing too much? Read this!  Boy, was I confused. We are hammered with propaganda that it is the war on terror(and other reasons)that is bankrupting us....that is ridiculous. I hope the following reasons are shared over and over again until they are read so many times the reader gets sick of reading them. Here are the hard facts:

$11 Billion to 22 Billion dollars is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.

$2.2 Billion dollars is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

$2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

$12 Billion a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here ILLEGALLY ...and they cannot speak a word of English!

$17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

$3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

30% of all federal prison inmates are illegal aliens - deport them!

$90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & Social Services by the American Taxpayers.

$200 Billion dollars a year in SUPPRESSED AMERICAN WAGES are caused by illegal aliens. No wonder our kids can't find a starter job! - SAD

The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.

During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border, also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries,  Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana crossed into the US from the Southern Border.

The National Policy Institute estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 Billion dollars, or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period. - It would be worth every penny!

In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances to their country or origin.

"The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration" - Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by illegal Immigrants in The United States!

Total Cost:

$338.3 BILLION PER YEAR! - That would be enough to stimulate the economy for the CITIZENS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY!  Are we that stupid?  YES, for letting those in the U.S. Congress get away with letting this happen year after year after year after year!.......

Check all these statistics if you want - they are all FACT - We need to do something before it gets worse. Contact any Rep, Senator or Committee in Washington, DC.

TAXPAYERS TO THE WORLD

Again--those States that ignore public opinion and the billions of dollars extracted from public service and welfare programs to sustain illegal economic migrants and immigrants will initiate consequences of refugees arriving there from Arizona and other self-restriction States. If Oklahoma, Utah, Georgia Michigan, Florida legislators giving away to indulgent provisions, playing into the greedy hands of industry and other open border seeders. They too will be submerged by mass populations of illegal cheap labor, mainly from low income labor. These people are ready and willing to steal American jobs as they have been doing for three decades. Unsettled by new policing laws throughout the country, unknown numbers of foreigners will head in all directions looking for a better home.

States that pander to illegal immigrants such as California, Nevada will get their fair share of paperless people, as they spread across the Southwest. California has been soaked for a 24 billion dollar deficit, so how much money is your State taxpayers out-of-pocket subsidizing anybody who makes it this side of the fence or through airports. Illinois itself has to make-up 15 billion dollar deficit, with $4.6 billion attributed to taxpayers paying for foreign illegal settlement. No State is immune if the State lawmakers who decide to tamper down rigid laws. YOU--end up paying for the education, health care and accumulation of other entitlement programs. The schools are crammed with illegal alien children, same with hospitals and the US jails and prisons. Education has flopped as teachers have to spend more time, with students who cannot comprehend English.

WE CAN ONLY WIN THIS WAR, IF EVERY AMERICAN UNITES

Every State needs to be unswerving towards mandating E-Verify, 287 (G) and Secure Communities police programs. If you are here illegal and get caught, which you eventually will in some scenario you will be deported, with zero tolerance. Amnesty (blanket Amnesty or Comprehensive Reform or Dream Act) is out of the question with the majority of Americans and the growing membership of the Tea Party steadfast in their resolve. We have already had six hidden amnesties since Ronald Reagan's unenforced 1986 immigration law and we pro-sovereignty groups are suspiciously watching for these irregularities.

IF YOU ARE ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED

NumbersUSA does not disguise the facts from the Leftist editorial, but offers disquieting statistics and what is really being done to stem the ever increasing tide of illegal immigrants? The US Government does not always tell The People the full truth, so those interested in the corruption and details emanating from Congress and State Capitols on the illegal immigration issue should investigate the website of Judicial Watch. If you want to call your federal or State Representative directly, find the phone number in the blue pages of your phone directory.

First of all... what is an Aztlanista? According to Wiki, modern day Aztlan movement has been criticized as racist and anti-American, a form of ideological "reconquista" that is replete with anti-White and anti-American rhetoric, and in some cases, calls to overthrow the American government, and even to exterminate White Americans.

Is this how you identify yourself?

No Soy Racista,

Great points! Gustavo was a member of MECHa at Chapman university and though he claims that it was a multicultural group we all know the truth. Thank you for your comments on my other post! I look forward to exposing Gustavo for the Charlatan he is!

Here's the question, Gus: Do you identify yourself with the definition of Aztlanzist which I provided? The entire movement is racially motivated. If your entire premise is to call out Whitey for his evil racist ways, what say you of your group's anti-American rhetoric?

I know you've written about this movement million times... that's why you have so many people calling you a racist by a people in the know (like yours truly).

Again, my question in plain English is: Do you identify yourself as a person that seeks to reclaim the US Southwest as Mexico?

No Soy Racista,

You notice that he didnt respond to my posting under the Census and African-Americans in OC. Then he waits till the end of the day on Friday before firing off a couple one liners.

Really? Avoided it? Even after having written thousands of words on it? SOMEONE needs wuv and acknowledgment today--and you just didn't get it! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Again... Gus avoids responding to the question. I've also seen that about a billion times.

We'll Start with the obvious... ITS THE LAW TO VERIFY STATUS FOR EMPLOYMENT!

U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization. This diverse workforce contributes greatly to the vibrancy and strength of our economy, but that same strength also attracts unauthorized employment.E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows businesses to determine the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States. E-Verify is fast, free and easy to use – and it’s the best way employers can ensure a legal workforce.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/si...

But Gustavo wouldn’t want you to know this because its a whole lot more fun to accuse people and organizations of being racist and Anti-Immigrant.. and by anti-immigrant Gustavo would limit it to plain ol Mexicans!

The Chipotle by my house has Mexicans, Indians, whites, and Asians working there. so that blows the racist argument out of the water. Would Gustavo rather that they all quit and live under mommy and daddy or better yet on the dole while ILLEGAL immigrants fill those jobs?

We live in a society of LAWS the law required you verify your status to be legally employed. It is also a crime to enter the country illegally. I suppose though Gustavo would have us pick and choose the laws we follow, specifically the ones that suit his opinions.

And Sandra, if you don’t like how Immigrations is handled feel free to write or call your congressman. And VOTE! If you get enough like minded people in office you can change the laws! It is hard to get into the United States, as is should be. But not as hard as it is to get into Mexico if your Guatemalan! Hey Gus, Does the Mexican army on the south border still have authorization to shoot the Pinche' Indio's on sight? Or was it Chuntaro's? I can’t remember how you characterized Guatemalans on the Al Rantell show a few years ago? It was one of the two..

So YES Gustavo the days of business's hiring ILLEGAL immigrants is indeed over!

I think you are letting your dislike of Gustavo take control over you far too much.

You just ranted for a while about how Gustavo doesn't want people to know that illegal immigrants are breaking the law...where did he say that? Because from what I read, he said this: Chipotle is firing employees who can't prove their legal status.

That right there is saying, hey, those that aren't legal, aka in line with the law, are being fired. Did he try to cover up that being an illegal immigrant meant it is against the law for you to work in the United States?

And by the way, anyone who doesn't understand that illegal immigrant means they are in the country ILLEGALLY is just an idiot and your explanation is not going to enlighten them.

And what is this nonsense about asking him about Mexico's immigration policy with Guatamela? Is he the president of Mexico?

Your credibility is shot because you are no longer making a point, you are just attacking the writer.

Do yourself a favor, and take a few deep breaths next time, and make whatever point you are trying to make. Because (and this is coming from a third party outsider) you just look crazy.

All I can say is it's not true in my small town. Chain restaurants still hire undocumented folks, as do housing contractors and even ranchers. They do not lack for work.

rustyspatula

My understanding was that Chipotle was trying to get their undocumented workers out the door without any fuss or paper trail before the Feds forced them to turn everyone over for deportation, but I'm a Denver native so I guess I always want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Meanwhile, how disappointing has Napolitano turned out to be? ICE and TSA have somehow managed to get worse since Obama took office.

Not legal? You shouldn't be in America much less applying for a job. I have no sympathy for you getting fired. There are out-of-work Americans who would probably love to have their jobs back!

Your exactly right, there uneducated and never invented anything worth looking at. Companies should be fined something severe and put in jail. Also the problem is america s dea is to leanyant on african americans smuggling cocaine and heroin in the country from columbia. There afraid they will get shot and die. Which is why its a never ending race war.

Companies "should stick by their employees ...." By doing what -- admitting they knew the workers were illegal? Their stockholders (quick, check your 401 (k)) might beg to differ, and what good would it do, anyway?

Or are you saying that restaurant chains should continue to thumb their noses at democratically enacted laws by hiring illegal aliens pushing ahead of legitimate applicants in the immigration line -- illegals who thereby avoid the immigration-bureaucracy hassle, as well as the trouble of having to study American language and culture, and who get to experience the thrill of being abused by the criminals smuggling them into the U.S.? That's what I thought you meant.

My dear uneducated, hard-working (legal) immigrant grandparents would have disagreed. Stick another fork in it, Gustavo. Your ideas need more cooking.

Ats. A. Nice,

Are you informed at all of what it takes for people from Mexico and South America to enter into this country documented. A "hassle" is not the right way to describe it. It is practically impossible for people from Mexico and South American. I am sure that your hard working "legal" immigrant grandparents did not have to go through the process that an immigrant who seeks to enter the U.S. documented has to go through. I do not doubt it was challenging, but I am sure they shared many of the same dreams my Latino brother and sisters have when they entered the United States.

There really needs to be an end to the criminalization of honest people seeking to work to live. You may call them illegal aliens, but they are human beings seeking a place where they can work, and feed themselves and their families.

Sandra, let them take your job from you and ruin your neighborhood and you pay for their medical education and crimal cost. Send them back and have them enter the correct way.Or perhaps maybe you would like to join them too?

democratically enacted laws allowed for slavery, separate but equal, DOMA, DADT, Dept Homeland Security, Gitmo, Citizens United, war on drugs, war on terror, cold war, Contras, bailouts, Japanese internment, NAFTA, and oh so many other unjust actions. Creating second and third-class citizens/residents is how rich folks get richer and the rest of us suffer.

Pat,

I know lots of "rich" white people, Mexican people, African American people, Japanese people, etc. Why don't you work harder to become "rich". Why must you "suffer"? are you disabled?

...are you serious? If it was that easy to become rich, wouldn't we all be rich?

Your logic is flawed my friend.

People always say that Mexicans do all these jobs that US Citizens would not want to do. I am wondering if Chipotle and these other chains are having difficulty maintaining staff?

Hm, I can hire a lazy unmotivated teenager that will be gone at the end of the summer break (I worked with them when I was a teen, I know) or I can hire a hard-working person who will be there for the long-term and is grateful for the job, hm, tough choice. The other side of the stick is that about 95% of the people I worked for in those jobs had no idea which of their people were actually doing the work, definitely none of the people beyond first-line sups had a clue.
