GOOD Magazine Rips Off 'Good Food' Name From KCRW-FM's Good Food Program

GOOD occupies a strange place in the world of hipster magazines--not as pompous as The Believer, not as hip as Paper, not as rambunctious as Vice, but not as good a read as you might think. It's the New Republic of the genre, one in which issues inevitably disappoint despite one or two good pieces--I've bought two issues and each time regretted it after the fact. Frankly, I stick to the Fortean Times.

But now there's another reason to hate on GOOD. For its recently launched food section, it has stolen the name of Good Food, the iconic KCRW-FM 89.9 program hosted by Evan Kleinam (which I contribute to--for free, I might add). Almost everyone who cares about food in Southern California listens to the show--including the person in charge of GOOD Food.

"It's one of my favorite podcasts," editor Nicola Twilley admitted in a comment announcing the launch of the magazine's section. Well, that settles it!

In fairness to GOOD, all its sections are titled after the brand (GOOD Culture, GOOD Media, etc.). But please: Couldn't GOOD think of another name besides that of a 15-year-old show? No good.
