Man... I was so excited to try Fonda La Meche a few weeks ago after reading on chow how fantastic their tortillas were. Claimed to be hand made, thick-ish, I was totally blown away by how NOT good their tortillas were. I'm sure I didn't order well, but I went for the tortillas and they kind of stunk. The sopes weren't good either, though a little better than the tortillas. I guess I should have gotten the enchiladas toluquena or something, but ugh... I just didn't see anything special there. Go figure.
That's weird--their tortillas are always wonderful, and you don't have to ask them to make them hand-made...go back and give it another shot!
