Chronic Tacos Sues Chronic Tacos For Trademark Infringement

Chronic Tacos Enterprises [ugly, noisy website alert], the group behind the Chronic Tacos brand, have filed suit in United States District Court against the Huntington Beach franchisee of the brand, saying that they continue to use the Chronic Tacos trademark despite not having a valid franchise agreement.

The owners of the brand were shareholders in the Huntington Beach location; after their shares were bought out, the temporary license agreement expired.

It does seem a little bit odd that they're suing for trademark infringement, all while their website's location list still lists the Huntington Beach location. You can't have your burrito and eat it too, guys.

In the meantime, a challenge to our readers: can you tell the difference between the real Chronic and the potentially-infringing ganja in HB? We sure as hell can't. Both serve the best potato tacos in Orange County; both the real and the ersatz are plastered with bumper stickers (de rigueur in that part of OC); both the real and the ersatz are frequented by bros who wouldn't be caught dead eating real Mexican food in Santa Ana.
