As Taco Bell-as-weapon cases flood the country (including our own Orange County!) and the Irvine company tries to fend off a lawsuit brought on by hundreds who claim they suffer salmonella poisoning while eating their food, plain ol' crime happens there as well, the kind that makes you pessimistic about the future of our country. Or, at least the suburbs of Oakland.

From Antioch:

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in the armed robbery of two teens over the weekend, following a lengthy chase Monday that ended with his arrest, police said.

The suspect, a Pittsburg resident whose name was withheld because he is a minor, was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery. A 16-year-old boy arrested alongside him, also from Pittsburg, was released pending further investigation.

Two teens, ages 14 and 13, told police that as they walked away from a Taco Bell restaurant on Deer Valley Road about 7:10 p.m. Sunday, they were followed by a group of six teenage boys.

As they neared a walking trail, two boys broke away from the group and pointed semi-automatic handguns at the victims.

When the armed boys slid the slides back on their weapons, one of them discharged a round, but no one was hit, police said.
