#51. Secret Beer-Battered Fish Burrito at the OG Taco Adobe

​Because ustedes gentle readers love lists, behold the latest entry in our Top 100 dishes list that continues until Best Of--at which point, we'll give you MORE lists! Now, on with the show...

If you go to the original Taco Adobe in Orange (not its original location, now run by a fool, but the second one where the original owners went to--¿comprendes, Mendez?), you will find beer-battered fish tacos on the menu. They're great--nice, sweet crunch that doesn't overwhelm the mahi-mahi it encases--but a better option is the fish in a burrito.

Only problem: it's not on the menu.
But if you ask owner Patricio Dillón for it, he'll gladly oblige, and I'm sure the other servers will, as well. Now, the fish triples in pleasure, with the added joy that is a properly crisped flour tortilla, crunchy repollo, and some sort of creamy, garlicky burrito sauce that grounds everything in spicy reality. HINT: Eschew the house salsa, even the Tapatío, and ask for the habanero salsa Dillón keeps chilled in the refrigerator, ready for the next grateful victim.
