Champagne With Wild Hibiscus Flowers

• I have given these as gifts to girlfriends for this Christmas and so far they have been a great success. I think they are a novel and unusual present...something different to choccies and soap!!!!

• I LOVE this product! I keep them on hand for entertaining and gifts. They make a simple, but fancy housewarming/hostess gift if you pair it with a nice bottle of champagne or sparkling white wine.

• Jen, Agua de jamaica in Latin cuisine is the hibiscus bracts (they aren't really flowers) steeped in sweetened boiled water. It's just a step more watery from hibiscus syrup. As with all things, it's about whether you're anal-retentive enough to make your own. I mean, I've got forty hibiscus bushes outside my front door, but I still buy my <I>flores de jamaica</I> at Northgate Market because drying them is such a pain in the <I>culo</I>.

• Hi Jessica, Thank you for your kind words regarding our product, we are pleased that you enjoy the flowers. Gustavo, you are correct, our wild Hibiscus Flowers are a relation to what the mexicans call jamaica flowers but ours are actually a different variety that are native to the Australian Outback which is where ours are grown and harvested. I have seen the syrup you refer to before in latin grocers but have never seen a product such as ours - which is the whole flower preserved in syrup which is used as a cocktail garnish as shown in the picture above and as well we have many recipes using them stuffed with goat's cheese, served with pork and chicken, added to desserts etc. I would be interested to know if you are aware if the entire preserved flower is ever seen in latin cuisine? • Jessica: ...or you can just go to a Mexican restaurant, ask for jamaica (what we call it), and they'll give you all the syrup you need at 1/10 the cost, I'm sure!
