New Food Competition Series With Bobby Flay Announced

​Do we really need another food competition show? I'm inclined to think not. The two Top Chef shows are more than enough for me. Heck, we could've stopped at the original Iron Chef. Every show since has proven that the genre suffers from the law of diminishing returns.

So why, then, is there another one coming down the pike called America's Next Great Restaurant (working title)?

It will feature none other than Bobby Flay doing his darnedest to "out-Simon Cowell" Tom Colicchio. He's one of five other famous names that will reportedly mentor, judge and ultimately invest their own money into the winning contestants' venture, turning it into a chain.

I'll reserve judgment until the show actually airs on NBC. But the fact that the people involved in the show might actually lose their own cash in a bad investment? That's kind of a reason to watch.

On second thought, no. Not really.
