Black Orchid Tea at Sakura

Sakura
in Huntington Beach features shabu-shabu, a Japanese dish in which you to cook thinly sliced pieces of meat and vegetables in a personal pot of boiling water or broth. This restaurant caters to groups and has a large outdoor eating area as well as a full bar to begin those nights out on Main Street.

Sakura puts as much emphasis on its drink menu--shooters, sake, specialty cocktails--as it does on its Japanese cuisine, and houses one of the most distinctive mixed drinks in Orange County, Black Orchid Tea.

This fruitier version of a Long Island Iced Tea is strong and well worth the hefty $9 price tag. Black Orchid Tea mixes vodka, rum, tequila, gin, Triple Sec, Chambord and 7 Up. Chambord, a raspberry liqueur, gives the cocktail its sweetness and also adds a pinkish tint to the center of the drink. The raspberry flavor combined with the lemon-lime mixer masks the bite of the booze so well that you will think you're sipping on sweetened tea--and then one drink will give you a buzz that can last well into dinner.

Sakura's laundry list of drink choices has something for everyone, and with sake bombs and a shooter called G-String, you will be sure to leave the restaurant ready for a wild night.
