Yorba Linda Chick-fil-A To Give Away Free Meals For A Year & Cow Superheroes!

​I will never understand why people camp out overnight for anything, let alone at a Chick-fil-A just for a chance to get a year of free food, but that's apparently what 100 or so are prepared to do on Tuesday night at the grand opening of one in Yorba Linda (at Savi Ranch).

So if you are one of those who can fathom actually doing it, know this: when they fling open the doors at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13th, you need to be within the first hundred bodies in order to get the voucher for a meal a week for 52 weeks. If you're the 101st, you get nothing...maybe pity.

In any case, I'm near too many Chick-fil-A's to think that another Chick-fil-A is cause to celebrate. So why am I bothering to write this post? Well, back in the halcyon days of 2004, when they opened their first O.C. outlet at the Irvine Marketplace, I got this Cow Superheroes calendar, which I cherish to this day.

Featuring such bovine crime-fighters as Kowraté and The Gristle Missile, it was 12-pun-filled months of cow hilarity. As Gary Larson proved in The Far Side: cows are funny.

Every day that year, you'd see me grinning in my cube when I glance at it. To see these cattle posed in ridiculous scenarios and dressed in tights brightened even the darkest of days.  Photoshop has never been used for a nobler purpose. 

So you can have your year's worth of free meals. This calendar, I'm keeping forever.
