Five Guys Coming to OC!

• Hopefully Ratner will do better with 5-G than he did with Marie Callender's.

• Now that I live in the Washington, DC, area, I consider Five Guys an acceptable substitute for In-N-Out but I have not been able to compare them side by side.

• Not sure who you are asking the question to @polar, but I never said it was a mediocre burger, it's actually quite good.

• Seriously? you guys are going to have mediocre burger, just for the fries? I agree: the fries at Five Guys are terrific. But its a BURGER joint. The word "burger" is in the store name. If a burger place does their specialty, which is their burger, rather lackluster fashion, then there's something wrong.

• Two words. Cajun fries.

• Two 3.3 ounce patties for the double make it 6.6 ounces (just over 1/3 a pound) for $4.95 with cheese isn't grossly overpriced (although is more than In-n-Out which has smaller patties (3 ounce each). You definitely get more fries at Five Guys for the $2.45 price tag, enough for two if not three people. I do prefer the Double Double to the Five Guys Cheeseburger, by a hair, but the cajun fries... oh those cajun fries are glorious.

• I tried Five Guys a few times already. Call me more than slightly bias; its quite lackluster when compared to In-N-Out. My first Double Double was back in 1988 and I do not see the appeal for the "East Coast" chains creeping up on the west side, this one in particular. If you haven't, try the In-N-Out fries well done. That's what all the other burger joints do; spend extra minutes in the fryer. They are also double fried, once before transport, a second time before it comes to you. In-N-Out do not do the double frying. Its cut and fried fresh. If I am really craving a customizable burger, I'd rather go to The Counter, or Slater's 50/50. At least I feel I am paying for what I get.

• I have gone to both the Carson and Cerritos locations and really liked them. Their cajun fries are some of the best, but the prices are a little high.

• It's entertaining feeding the trolls a little bit though. :)

• I avoid the Reg when the chatter spins away from food. I already know how stupid most other people are and chatter about unrelated subjects. Looks like a good location in Orange nearby other great food options. Arthurs is just up the street from there, Tulsa Rib not much further, and Mariscos Puerto Esperanza.

• If you want to partake in some great discussion I suggest heading over to the Fast Food Maven article on this... It's a real treat reading the ignorant comments from some people.

• I have to admit, 5 Guys is better than In & Out

• Great news. I just drove by the Cerritos location recently (but already ate just before), so I've reminded myself to try it the next time I'm in that area. The Orange location will be a little bit closer to me. I am eager to try it soon.
