New Argentine-Mexican Restaurant Open in Downtown Santa Ana

I once really liked a brilliant Argentine chick, and I know she liked me as well. But it wasn't meant to be, mainly because I was/am so clueless to matters of the heart that I blew it. My current chica once dated an Argentine guy, and that obviously didn't work out. So, Argentine-Mexican unions haven't been exactly successful in my life experience. But I do wish the best of luck to Chimichurri, an Argentine-Mexican restaurant that opened its doors yesterday in downtown SanTana, just next to the corner of Fourth Street and Broadway, across the street from Starbucks. Haven't had a chance to stop in, because I ate another great dinner at the Crosby nearby, but the pictures outside were solely of empanadas. Here's to hoping that the Mexican items on the menu exist solely to ensure Chimichurri's survival in the most-Mexican big city in America, and that we have another great Argentine spot to try. Just to clarify: Mexicans are NOT Latin people. Mexicans are natives who adopted the language of the Conqueror. The Latin Countries are lcoated around the Mediterranean Sea. Mexicans are mexicans unless they have European blood witch is one in a million. Argentinians have NOTHING in common with the Mexicans, specially if we talk about food. N-A-D-A!

Hey Huge Sanchez, The people from Argentina are generally a hell of alot more attractive than Mexicans, so in a sense they do have a right to be a little snobbier, at least to mexicanos. Now your saying "well all of the girls in the telenovelas are hot etc etc.." Well, yes, they are they few who are on television for the looks, but even half of those girls are not from Mexico. Majority of Mexicans look like Guatemalans, very dark and short for the most part. Yes, there are attractive mexicans, but for the MOST part..walk around OC and ask people who you would associate with being more italian-esque and pretty..LA GENTE DE ARGENTINA..if you ask people what do you associate mexicans withs...mowing lawns, taking orders, yes some are succesful but cmmmmoooonnn
Happened to walk by this place today and decided to try it. Hubby (who's on jury duty) and I have also hit nearby El Curtido, Mil Jugos, Las Brisas, and Antojitos San Clemente for lunch. This place by far had the best food! The crust on the chicken and beef empanadas was flaky..Love it this way rather than doughy. Could have used a little more meat but they were delicious! Hubby had the lomito with ham at the suggestion of the server. I would definitely recommend it as a first time meal. The beef tenderloin was very tasty and tender! Would definitely go back again!
Anonymous-are you fucken retarded? How is it that Gustavo's review changes they quality of the food they serve? Did he make them change how they prep the food.
Oh, geez, now you're blaming me for a lack of quality in restaurants? Heaven forbid I write up an article to help out struggling mom-and-pops!
Yes but you are following me, and it's not cool. Last year you published my mom and pop thai place on 1st street and ruined the food there. Once it got popular, the food sucks now, just like Favori. Then you ruined my little Afghan place on Red hill. The koobideh is the best thing on the menu, but you are too much of a dork to write up the best thing on the menu. The empanadas at this "chimichurri" place inspire the chinese at my work as the dough smells like those half moon meat pies in little saigon. The ground beef empanadas have hard boiled egg and pimento green olives mixed in. Too much fat and gristle. The chicken ones are good, but you will find some cartilage under the pastry. They can do better, but Santa Ana is pretty much a 3rd world country by now, so you had better get used to fat and gristle in your empanadas from now on.
Gracias for the correction and field report, but I didn't review this place; merely said it's open (you might notice the category it's in: "Now Open"). And "some time" is a bit of a stretch, considering butcher paper still covered its windows in June.
The place has been open for some time, not this week as reported. I ate there three times last week. Try the migas and empanadas. As usual, Gustavo's writing contains factual inaccuracies, not to mention he is reviewing a restaurant he has never tried. What a joke.

from my experience with my in-laws in Mexico-they love Argentine cooking as the best restaurant in Tampico was Argentine (Jardin Corona)- it's the place that when my wife was visiting during the last presidential election in walked Labastida (PRI candidate for president) and she told him that she was going to vote for Calderon!

I'm not talking about soccer KO. Do you honestly think that all mexicans care about is "futbol"? Beleive me, we know that Mexican soccer sucks balls, just like you do. I was talking about the snobby attitude that Argentinans have. They walk around thinking they are better than everyone around that is not from the motherland. In reality their parents came to the US for the same reasons my parents did-for a better way of living!
