As you may have already heard, the St. Regis Monarch Beach is on the verge of being auctioned off in a foreclosure sale. LA Times had the scoop.
The ritzy hotel, as many have noted, is infamous for hosting a certain AIG boondoggle. You know the one: The bash they held after accepting government bailout money?
But the whispers in food circles is how this affects Michael Mina's Stonehill Tavern, which is set inside the belly of the resort and is the poshest of its posh restaurants. Well, I called today, just to check in, and the chipper lady who answered couldn't have been more accommodating, but with nothing new to report.
"As far as I know, it's business as usual", she said.
So there you go AIG, come on down.
