Our friends at Yo Gabba Gabba, the popular Orange County-based acid trip, er, children's television show, analyzed the summer season.
You know, the time with all of the heat and none of the school.
And, as usual, our team of 4-year-old Daphne and 23-year-old Subject X (subdued by medical marijuana to induce a childlike mindset) each watched the episode and gave their thoughts on the subject matter at hand in efforts to compare the effect this program has on the minds of the future.
Here are the results of this week's experiment with the episode titled: Summer . . .
23-year-old stoned adult:
There are bubbles flying around. The bubbles are singing. These talking, singing bubbles and the green long-armed monster are having such an awesome time together. Man, I could go for some champagne right now.
Why do all of these children have such killer moves? "I like to dance!" They all say that when they're cutting a serious rug.
DJ Lance Rock has sunscreen on his nose. It is orange to match his running suit. I really need to coordinate my outfits better. The robot and the Rock-ster are making lemonade. I am really thirsty. Can someone bring me some beer? Or water, you know. Whatever. It's hot in here.
Holy shit! What are The Aquabats doing in the little world? Didn't they stop mattering in 1996? Some of these guys are definitely too big to be wearing those outfits. What are those, anyway? Flight suits that double as scuba get-ups? Not my style but I suppose I could get down with one of those hats...
Toodie is singing a jump jump song. Man I love that freak-cat thing. She has got some killer moves. I like to dance too!
Cool tricks is by far the best part of this show. This kid is stacking cups like nobody's business. Jesus. How does he stack cups that fast? This is blowing my mind right now. Speaking of cups... Can someone get me something to drink?
Goddamn it Toodie! Quit cutting in line. I am so sick of these fucking people/cat-like creatures cutting in line all the time. God damn it wait your turn!
What, that's IT?! Again again again!
4-year-old comments (Mom's comments in italics):
BJ Lance! Muno! Soopa! Toodie! I love Toodie! She's my favorite.
Mom! The bubbles are singing! I LOVE bubbles! I'm going to pop them! Can we blow bubbles?
What's that on his nose, Mom? It's sunblock. I don't have orange lotion. It looks funny. . . . They're hot, Mom.
Can we make lemonade? I like lemonade. I like the pink kind. It's yummy.
Mom! [points at TV; Aquabats are singing] They are soooo funny! They are having a party, and they need special . . . um, what are they wearing?
Jump! Jump! Jump! I like to jump! This song makes me think of the "snacky snacky" song. . . . Jump and snack! Jumpy snack! [proceeds to sing both songs interchangeably]
Whoa. That was cool, Mom! She was FAST!
Oh! They have a pool! And a slide! Can I have one? . . . Toodie wanted to go, but Soopa wanted to go, too. Toodie has to wait. It's not her turn, right? I love Toodie.
I want to watch it again? One more time?
