Sure, the Irvine Great Park may seem like an inexorably stalled vanity project for Irvine's longtime political don. It may be tainted by scandals, and we may be a little suspicious about how soon and how well the $65 million dollar construction its board just approved will be executed.

But... pumpkins!

Yes, it's true. Free pumpkins for anyone under the age of 12 tomorrow at the Great Park's "Spooky Hangar," starting at 1 p.m. While gourd-like squash supplies last, of course.

There'll also be a pumpkin carving demonstration, carnival games, and a chance for kids to trick or treat and march in a parade (?) at 3 p.m.

And the whole thing is a food drive, too, for the Orange County Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank.  Families attending should bring donations of nonperishable foods.

Admission is free, parking is $8. Details here!
