OC Weekly Winners!

Categories: Naranja News

Am about to return to la naranja after a week in Philadelphia for the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies' annual convention. Am happy to report yours truly won the Best Column award for alt-weeklies with a circulation over 55,000 for the second time in three years. And il cappo di tutti capi of investigative reporters, R. Scott Moxley, finished second in the prestigious public service category for getting disgraced former Orange County sheriff Mike Carona out of office. Do consider Moxley a winner, however, since the first-place finisher was our boss, Michael Lacey, for getting arrested by Phoenix's own corrupt sheriff for standing up for the First Amendment. And congrats to our LA Weekly hermanas up the 5 freeway for their victories—full results here.

Way to represent! Two people don't deserve it more!

You deserve the national recognition. It's obvious that you two pour your hearts into your work. But so many of us love you guys at the Weekly mostly because the evil people in Orange County fear you more than they do the police.
