Barbara Coe Finally Hates the Gays

Why is this woman smiling? Right: because she just talked to her boss, Lucifer...

California Coalition for Immigration Reform head Barbara Coe hates Mexicans. She hates immigrants. Muslims. Thinks Obama wasn't born in this country and won't take vaccines. She's not an anti-Semite or anti-black, unless they're liberal. Really, the only group I could never find any evidence Coe was against were the gays...until last week.

She forwarded an email urging her minions to oppose an Assembly bill seeking to create a Harvey Milk Day in honor of the gay rights martyr because, according to the subject head written by someone else, it promotes "the homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual agenda to children as young as kindergarten." Coe didn't add any of HER CAPS-FILLED COMMENTARY, but it wasn't necessary. Congrats, Babs: you're now a homo-hater! Really, I'm surprised plants don't die at her sight, so evil this woman is...

Gary Wood says:

What is so shocking about this? The woman spreads hate, it was only a matter of time until she showed renewed hatred for yet another group. What is shocking is that some people actually follow mindless people like her.

Ty says:

Why is NOT buying into the homosexual agenda considered hateful? Is it not intolerant for the homesexual to demand that their agenda be preached to the masses and any other opinion is to be squashed?? This is so one-sided it is ridiculous. Give us a break please...My family is not drinking your kool-aid and I think it's wrong that it should be forced on our children as being normal.

Gustavo Arellano says:

Ty: Please explain for us Kool-Aid drinkers what the homosexual agenda is. You seem to know--hmm...

Paul Cook-Giles says:

Ty, my agenda includes things like next-of-kin recognition for married people, family discounts, Social Security survivor benefits, community property tax shelters, and protection from being fired because of the gender of the person I love. My agenda does not include requiring you to believe that my marriage is as good as yours, teaching school children about fisting, forbidding your preacher to say that gay people are going to hell, or enabling your cousin to marry his dog.

Can you explain --without using words like sin, abomination, Bible, and God-- why my husband and I should be denied the civil rights that you and your wife (presumably) enjoy?

Sean H. Mill says:

Ty,

Where can one pick up a copy of this so-called agenda? Are they typed up weekly and distributed? Are they available on the racks next to where I pick up my copy of the OC Weekly at Barnes and Noble?

I have been trying to find a copy of this so-called "agenda" for years but nobody has ever been able to produce it for me. I have emailed James Dobson and Gary Bauer and all I got was an angry homophobic rant in return.

I am betting that this "agenda" is not so different from that of us "straight" folks as Paul points out above.

Jim says:

Ok, first let me say that I have never herd of this woman until I read this small blurb. However, this is an excellent example of just why people are so divided in this Country today. It seems that conformity and tolerance are the only standards of morality many American use these days to evaluate the intentions of others. It used to be that if someone drew a line and said that this is the limit of what is acceptable in our Society they were considered the salt of the earth. Now days they are raving lunatics who have no tolerance. Trying to maintain a standard of acceptable behavior is the new definition of bigotry and evil. At the same time the position of tolerating any and everything is the new definition of morality. Now day’s if someone disagrees with your righteous opinion of morality they are labeled as a minion of Lucifer. If you wish to bring in elements of religion, then does it not say that in the latter days good would become evil and evil would become good?

How can you say that this woman hates so many groups, have you been inside her heart? She absolutely hates Mexicans just because she does not what to see them flood our Country illegally. Do you think that if she came across a starving Mexican child she would not give him food? Oh and don’t forget to throw in the new group of victims, Muslims, worrying about them will definitely makes you evil. As for avoiding vaccines, oh man, we mush have millions of evil people doing that! I would like to know why people who do not conform to a politically correct perspective of things is so awful. I don’t see her calling you names for not seeing the world her way. It’s possible that she might think your stupid but that’s her right. You have the right to point out where she is mistaken but not to label her as evil. The true hate in this world seems to be coming from people like you who just can’t tolerate people like her without denigrating them. So, maybe she does not wish to celebrate homosexuality as normal, I think she probably has that right. She did not say anything demeaning about them; she just chooses to appose a pro-gay bill moving through the legislature. Seems you have the right to send out to your associates a recommendation to support such a bill. That’s the way it should be in a “Free” Society, unless you think it’s only free for your opinion to be heard? What if Barbara Coe said that because you’re defending gays you must be a gay lover or even gay? It’s a reasonable assumption if you assume she “hates” them because she disagrees with them. Now I don’t know this lady but I can speak to your intolerance of her. I wonder who really is the servant of Lucifer? From her perspective, her mission is to defend Society, but some only see hate. It’s all a bit extreme don’t you think.

Gary Wood says:

Agenda? Who said anything about an agenda? I live my life in peace and harmony with my neighbors. I dont push my lifestyle on anyone, nor do I tolerate those who try and push their life choices on me. I dont care who you pray to, who you worship, nor who you sleep with. Now, stay the hell out of my life. I will continue to battle for EQUAL rights, not special rights. Equal treatment by hospital staff, by the IRS, by the Federal government, by state and city governments.

Gary Wood says:

Jim, you are a danger to society. Your comment "trying to maintain a standard of acceptable behavior" is chilling.

Hitler wanted to maintain that standard too. So did Saddam. So does Iran and North Korea and every other evil empire.

You pretty much lost me past that. It is evident what your "agenda" is.

DANGER!!!!!!! JIM IS A HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 24 2009 @ 12:14PM
Gustavo Arellano says:

Jim: No one can see inside her heart because she doesn't have one. She very much calls people names, or is "savages" not enough for you? Finally, I find it hilarious you're asking rational people to have tolerance for Coe when she's the one wishing swine flu on President Obama. Now, go back to your Stormfront circle jerk.

The Pot Stirrer says:

Before we leave the "lovely" Ms. Coe, please remember that not to long ago she embraced Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor when he became an honorary Minuteman. She and her cronies stood before the Costa Mesa City Council time after time and praised Mansoor as the second coming. This is the same Mansoor who has announced he's running for Van Tran's seat representing the 68th Assembly district in November 2010. That's certainly something to remember in 14 months as you cast your ballots. You are known by the company you keep...

Jim says:

Dear Gary Wood: Thank you so much, you have proven my point. Just by putting out my opinion I am now labeled a danger to society and a hater! But that’s ok; I respect your right to have your say in any health debate. I’m sure you know I don’t hate you; it would just be nicer if we could all talk about issues without assuming the worst of the other person’s emotional status. Demeaning other people just because they don’t see things the way you do is not a good environment for constructive discussion. You do understand that trying to maintain a standard of acceptable behavior is what any moral law attempts to do. I have no interest in telling you personally what to do if that’s what you think. You can swing through the chandeliers and flail your fist in the air if you like, just please stop before it get to my nose. That’s a bit more what I was talking about when I referred to an acceptable standard of behavior. Respecting each other is the sort of standard I was talking about. We all know that some standards within society will change with time but certain principals of behavior should not, this would include, respect, generosity, patience, understanding and charity (Love).

Let me say that invoking the name of Hitler, Saddam et al, is another good example of associating very negative “names” to someone you disagree with. These historical figures were mass Social Engineers who enforced their opinions of morality on others, and it all started out with name calling. All of these dictators demonized individuals in their society and as a result public opinion was conditioned to hate them. You see my point; it’s the name caller that is the source of hate, not so much the minority that does not conform to popular opinion. The concern that occurred to me after reading Mr. Arellano’s article was not the eccentricities of Barbara Coe, but the public conditioning by the author to hate her. She is being made out to be the definition of evil when in fact she is just different. Demonizing people you disagree with is just as dangerous as the things Mrs. Coe seems to be talking about. Again, I don’t know anything about her, and I still don’t after reading Arellano’s article. The only substantial thing I learned was that she is evil, but I doubt her “minions” think she is. Are they worth so much less then you or I because they see the world in a very different way? If you think so then you are falling into the same trap the people of Germany did by accepting all the social guidance spit out by their great National Socialist Party leader, Hitler. Gary, I do wish you the very best and I hope you’re not persuaded that labeling people negative names is a good strategy for an argument like our author Mr. Arellano does. Sincerely,

P.S. Dear Mr. Arellano, everyone has a heart, some filled with love, some with hate and others with indifference. If you don’t know her on a personal level, then you can’t say much about it. You can however, say what you like about her issues and her public opinions, that’s your right.

carlos falcon says:

wow hate is powerful until you find yourself having a gay child and then tollerance seems much more plausible. even if your own beliefs are different than that of your child you have a different feel for people who spread hate without considering the individual, as one from your own loin makes you more understanding.

Nadya from Houston says:

According to the homophobes, the gay agenda is to somehow convert all the straights gay, make your kids want to have sex with men 5 times their age, and to extend marriage rights to goats. Don't take it from me, take it from (In)justice Antonin Scalia's dissenting opinion in Lawrence v. Texas. According to him it will lead down a slippery slope (which is a logical fallacy by the way) into general degeneracy. Same-sex marriage has great potential to allowing gay couples to adopt (there are plenty of children out there without a home), generate revenue (gays statistically speaking have far more disposable income and education than their straight counterparts), and make us look cool like Sweden. A bunch of you may not think Sweden is cool, but I'm half-Swede and half-Mexican, and that's a double dose of effing awesome.

There's no homosexual agenda. It's just people trying to live their lives. The only agenda comes from homophobes who feel the need to infringe on other people's personal lives and civil rights. What would Jesus do? Probably tell them to get a life and live it. Let other people live theirs and leave them alone!

Norrin says:

This is in response to Jim: I understand what you're saying about basic human nature, and overall, you're correct in saying that we can't judge because we really don't know Barbara Coe's heart. However, in her case, we really don't need to know her personally. Her own words, coming from her mind and her heart, say it all. There is hate in there and therefore, your good example can be applied to this bad apple.

Posted On: Thursday, Oct. 1 2009 @ 9:51AM
Norrin says:

I mean your good example CAN'T be applied this this bad apple.

Posted On: Thursday, Oct. 1 2009 @ 9:52AM
Jim says:

Reply to Norrin: I understand just what you’re saying and do not argue with your interpretation of Mrs. Coe’s. However, my point does not defend her personally; my issue was with the author’s reliance on denigration and name calling to create even more hate in this world (against her). It’s perfectly healthy to disagree with her but also just as unhealthy to hate her back. Automatically calling opposition groups haters and evil is not an argument at all, its just more hate! I don’t care what Mrs. Coe believes or thinks, that’s her privilege, I do object to people with the publics ear using there influence to generate “emotional” reactions to her rather then reasonable objections. Please explain to me what’s wrong with her position not rail about how evil she is and how disgusted you are. Not helpful and not intellectually legitimate. Now let me add that your remarks were considerably more thoughtful and understandable. However, still a little presumptuous that she hast to be filled with hate. After a very “brief” look at some of her positions I would not say that she is filled with hate, I would say she is fearful. It looks like she is worried that what she was born into and grow up with is being fundamentally changed, her familiar culture is being inundated by the invasion of a foreign culture. Competition for jobs and the cost of indigent care (medial) for people here illegally. I did not see anything about hating Mexicans or they should all be dead, now that would be true hate. She seems to be afraid that we are getting too many to fast, she advocates immigration reform. Now you see, from her perspective, she is defending her Country and her culture. Whether that’s true in this case I can’t actually say because I don’t know her and have not been in her mind, but I can say the statements above and depending on where you stand, it could sound perfectly reasonable. I can say that she is a hero to people who have lost there jobs to illegal immigrants. You know what they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure, in this case its just not hate or evil. Those words have very specific meanings and need to be (reserved) used properly or they will create difficulties where there should be understanding. These days she represents a minority group of people, and in America that does not automatically prove you hate others.

Jeanjeanie says:

Wow, some of you just can't stand not being indoctrinated into the 'liberal' brainwashing that our schools are teaching. Jim you've got a brain between your two ears.
I am an atheist, was a democrat for 35 years, and don't care what gays do in their own homes or if the join the armed services. But I don't want the gay lifestyle thrown in my face every night on tv or every where else I go. No I'm not a right wing extremist or a left wing loony. But I still believe Barbara Coe has the right to do and think what she wants without you lefties acting like raving loons. You're an embarrassment to me when I even mention that I was a Democrat. That's why I'm now an Independent. You liberals are destroying this country. Everyone that doesn't agree with you you try to shut up, crying hate speach or racist. You're pathetic.
