In honor of Halloween the OC Weekly has compiled a list of haunted Orange County locations courtesy the database of haunted places on Shadowlands.net. So take some time and have a read.

Hey, even if you don't believe in ghosts, at least you can learn about some local legends.

ANAHEIM
Anaheim
Anaheim Fairfield Inn by the Marriott This motel is right next to a freeway and is said to be haunted by a couple that died in a car accident.

Anaheim High School
A WWII bomb shelter supposedly rests under the school, and people claim to hear constant banging on the old, locked steel door at night - usually after football games.

Anaheim High School Theater

Voices have been heard in the auditorium and deep laughter on the balcony.

Chain Reaction
Employees report hearing talking and laughing late at night in the back alley and in the bathrooms. Upon investigation, no one is there. A homeless man was found dead in the back alley several years ago. The venue has been converted from a biker bar - where there were many reported stabbings--into the club it is now. House of Blues, Anaheim
People have been brushed against, touched and pushed by something. But when they look, there is no one there. Woooo.

Kmart on Euclid
Employees have reported things falling off of shelves after closing. Some report seeing a girl. Her name is supposedly Isa or Isabel.

Red Cross House
It is supposedly haunted by the original caretaker. When you get to the room where the children once lived, people report feeling a strange presence and some report being pushed.

BREA
Brea's Best
Employees have reported that during late hours, frozen food gets launched across the kitchen.

BUENA PARK
Knott's Berry Farm
The legend goes that in the early '80's, a young man, distraught over a recent heart break, jumped to his death from the top of the parachute ride. The ride is since gone, but the structure still stands. On several occasions, employees have had the experience of something large slamming into the ground "as if someone were to drop a sack of potatoes from high above on the structure," only to find nothing.

Editor's Note: And don't forget Disneyland: Duh.

COSTA MESA
Costa Mesa, Back Bay High School
There are reports of a woman who screeches at the back of the school at night. When people go to check on her welfare, no one is there.

Costa Mesa High School
There have been sightings of a man-spirit rumored to have died in the boy's locker room.

Estancia High School

Faculty members have reported strange smells and being touched in the early morning when no one is around.

CYPRESS

Cypress College, Photo Department
In the late '80s, a student brought in a human skull with a bullet hole in it to photograph in studio 3. After that day, the department chair reported that he heard a strange pounding on the stockroom door when he was there alone. The occurrences have never stopped.

Cypress High School, Performing Arts Building
It was said that a high school student was in the attic of the performing arts building getting something from the storage area, when she fell through the floor boards to her death. Now, there are reports of feeling that someone is watching you up in that room.

DIAMOND BAR

Diamond Bar/Brea Canyon Road
It is said that at night you can see hikers trying to get a ride, but when you stop, there is no one there.

Diamond Bar High School
Students have reported that when you walk through the hallways alone you will feel someone's hand on your shoulder, but when you look back, nothing is there.

There is an abandoned hospital across the street from Five Points Plaza off of Beach and Ellis in Huntington Beach. It's known as the "Haunted Hospital" to high schoolers. To get in you have to climb over a fence and crawl through the basement window. The last time I was there with my friends we were ready to leave but when we turned around the door at the end of the hallway was shut, though moments before we had just passed by it opened, and the room with the basement window to exit was nowhere to be found. After searching the rooms up and down the hallway 3 times, the window was finally there. It was the creepiest thing ever!

i go to fountain valley high school.. everybody talks about how our english halls used to be a slaughter house, and it IS true. i dont know about lockers being opened with stuff everywhere but sometimes during the year kids will spend the night (i guess teachers think its funny) but they always hear animals sounds and screams. kinda creepy. but also our theater room is haunted- during a show, our lights went completely out.. would not turn back on at all. we also have cameras in the greenroom, and one day we walked into the classroom (5th period being our teachers first class) and the cameras we all turned around towards the wall. we always right notes on our programs and put it up in the ceiling will all our signatures. but ya there ya go

At the Bolsa chica wetlands ther is a fair ammount of activicity, late at nite. In the early 90's I knew th on site Archeologist's son, and we used to be the only people allowed with armed guards, etc. Anyway, now they''veBuilt all over that area since they stopped in the 30's. On The Discovery chanel they have documented soo mant reports in the same four neighborhoods on the seapoint / Garfield side,[also recently built road, and plenty more developement to come. Anytime you disturb something as powerful, and as old, let alone th proximity to the water, as that place, youll get some pretty constant activity. If you go out ther late, be careful what you wish for.

I worked at knotts back in early 2000. i worked in the phone room which was right by where the knotts house used to be. a lot of people had wierd things happen in there. the thing i remember most was closing one night [i was the only employee in the phoneroom] and i heard footsteps walk from one side of the room right behind where i was sitting. then, the trashcan moved and the footsteps walked back to where they started. i ran out of there so fast!! also, in the bathrooms next to the information center, the toilets would flush by themselves...and that was when you had to push the lever...not the automatic flushing ones

In Hunting Beach central park, at the bottom of the hill near the theater of the library. There is a man that is jogging and if you don't move he will run through the tree line where the street would be. I looked to see where he went but could not find him.

k so i'm a junior at Fountain Valley High School. ive never had "an encounter" but my freshman brother, and his friends, have. They say that the scariest activity happens around 8:30 at night. Once (Thursday night)they heard the lockers in the 100 building slamming really hard and the lights flickered on and off. They thought it was the janitor, but no cars were in the parking lot..and to make sure..they got on the roof and searched 360degrees..no one. then they heard loud screams as if someone was being raped inside..but the doors were locked. CREEPY another day my bro and his friend saw a black figure in the same hallway and were sooo scared they ran. Well anymway.. all these things can be heard from the pool area. And also.. 1 of his friends ran out of bathroom scared and crying, saying she had seen a man in the mirror. Another guy claimed seeing flickering lights and hearing lockers. The janitor (AWSOME guy by the way)'s shift ends at 8:25. We saw him leave at 7. He was in a hurry..almost scared..as he sorta ran out to his car, while repeatedly looking back towards the 100 building. well i think itz totally kool! and id LOVE to atleast stay until 10!

There's this house on newhope and hazard in a neighborhood near by the selgado center. It's a corner house and it was known to be haunted when a man in a black suit would roam around the house at night. It's currently occupied by a family, but if you stand nearby the wall, you can see a black figure.
