If you’ve stepped outside of your house today, chances are you’ve smelled the faint scent of burning. But don’t go calling the FBI on your stoner neighbors just yet. The reason behind that smell lingering in the air is wildfire, and it’s right in your back yard—in Brea, Yorba Linda and Corona, to be precise.

hardy har har... pot smoking neighbors... it almost works because it doesnt. So, rather than inform your readers, the weekly is taking the route of critising those who are covering the fires? Sounds counter productive, and intune with the Weekly's modus operendi

From up here in San Francisco, the best way to watch the fires has to be KCAL's raw live feed. Before, it was from SkyCam 9, which means the one and only Larry Welk.
There's something magnificent about watching a canyon raging with flame, with burning leaves surging together as if a volcanic magma flow, the entire thing resembling either the surface of the sun or a valley in hell, and all you hear from Larry is, "Wow."
There's really not much else to say.
MEME: Get a grip. Rather than competing with national and international media, the Weekly is serving its role as the community paper of record by monitoring the extensive coverage as well as soliciting readers' stories and comments. What do you want, Editor Teddy K hurling himself through the bay windows of Yorba Linda mansions in order to rescue pets? This isn't CNN, but it's not The Onion either.

The Pacific Nortwest has a rainy season the East coast has snow, the midwest has lake effect snow, northern cali has rain, cold, snow, fall colors. So. Cal has "the fire season" we have ash raining down the color of salt and pepper. We have santa ana winds "devil winds" local indian tribes use to say that blow 40, 50, 60 miles an hour. Fires that blot out a 90 degree sun in NOVEMBER !!!!
Horrible, horrible air quality, every year that I can remember since 1963,something somewhere catches fire, homes burn, lives are lost and we all pray for a little humidity and an ocean breeze. Thanks, i just had to say something.
