Go visit the website of the Friends of Monsignor John, the brave individuals who sought to publicly support the Catholic Diocese of Orange's longtime point man in its horrendous sex-abuse scandal. Notice anything different? Notice there are no more comments, deleted or otherwise? Notice there are no more depositions, redacted or otherwise? Notice there isn't even the text of the group's full-page ad in the Orange County Register from last week? Granted, websites constantly evolve, but the Friends of Monsignor John are reeling yet again from another callous mistake.
Yesterday, Newport Beach attorney John Manly--who has sued Catholic dioceses across the world for their pedo-protecting ways--fired another letter to the Friends and its most prominent members, Rancho Santiago Community College District board president John Hanna and OC Blog boss Matt "Jubal" Cunningham. In a previous letter, Manly demanded that the group take down Urell's unredacted deposition because it revealed the names of six sex-abuse survivors without their permission. This time around, Manly was angrier.
Manly was upset because the Friends had posted an unredacted copy of the Memorandum of Understanding that solidified Bishop Tod D. Brown's $6.685 million settlement between his diocese and four molestation victims of Orange diocese teachers. "You had no right to discover the identity of or client, and you had no right to see an un-redacted version of the Memorandum of Understanding," Manly wrote to Hanna and and Cunningham. "So, where did you get it?"
More embarrassing for the Friends, though, Manly discovered that the Memorandum they posted wasn't redacted, as they had claimed to Manly in a previous e-mail. "My office printed a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding posted on your website," Manly wrote. "Contrary to your assertions, while the victim's name is redacted as displayed on the site, when printed, her name is un-redacted and there for all the world to see and know." D'oh! Manly's threatening to take the Friends to court so he can discover who's leaking unredacted legal papers to them.
In other Friends news, SNAP (Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests) visited Hanna during a RSCCD board meeting yesterday. Hanna apologized but told Register reporter Rachanee Srisavasdi that "the group should come talk to him rather than protest at a board meeting regarding non-district related matters." Insert inspired Bungalow Bill stanza here, por favor.

The website www.friendsofmonsignorjohn.com has a disclosure stating:
“Friends of Monsignor John" an INDEPENDENT group of private citizens who know and respect the ministry of Msgr. Urell. We have NO affiliation or relationship with the ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF ORANGE..."
Thoughts.... states NO AFFILIATION with the Diocese of Orange but the website administrators were given an un-redacted copy of the Memorandum of Understanding, identifying the name of the victim who made a choice to keep her identity CONFIDENTIAL. NO AFFILIATION... NO AFFILIATION.... NO AFFILIATION.... Last time I checked, obtaining a copy of an un-redacted copy of a CONFIDENTIAL settlement agreement containing the name of a sex abuse victim who specifically requested that her identity remain confidential, is everything but NO AFFILIATION.
The only persons ASSOCIATED with Friends of John Urell that would have a copy and ability to publicly post an unredacted copy of the Memorandum of Understanding, which violated multiple privacy violations of the law of sex abuse victims, would be:
Bishop Tod Brown
Maria Schinderle, General Counsel/Diocese of Orange
Peter Callahan
Thomas Rutherford
WILL THE PERSON who revealed the identity of a sex abuse victim requesting confidentiality please stand up! It is time for you to voluntarily report to the OC District Attorney.

Don't hold yer breath!
These sociopaths, who masquerade as holier-than-thous, consider themselves above the law, an extension of the RC Bish Club, who have considered themselves above the law for centuries.
This is what Jesus lived and died for?
Isn't it delicious, seeing the slow, agonizing collapse of this evil empire?

I understand gay Auxuillary Bishop Soto has been 'called' by the Holy See to quickly retire Weigland in Sacramento, CA (reported in www.sfgate.com 10/11/07) who is up to the tip of his highest worn starched miter, in criminality and enabling, even before Weigland's official retirement date on this 70th BD....
You KNOW the curial barrel is totally rotten, bottomless, and empty, when the likes of Tod Brown's buddy Soto is the only CA option.
As to any Orange Diocese crook, or paid hack, owning up to outing victims, it will be a cold day in Hades (which may not be too far away for many miters and red hats) before that happens.
In the mean time laity, for vetted daily coverage of the ongoing massive enabling of kidappers, mental torturers, sexual assaulters, murderers, deliquents, obstructors of justice, racketeers, perjurers, contempt of courters, oral copulators, rapists, physical maimers, and sodomists of many tens of thousands of children globally, and annually and still occurring, DAILY, costing laity multi billions of dollars, we recommend:
www.bishop-accountability.org/abusetracker
Any representation that the US NCCB Charter of Protection (a total PR stunt) is being implemented, or enforcesd, are a FLAT OUT LIE!
Until overt enablers like Brown, Brom, Barnes, Mahony, Rivera, Walsh, Curry, Weigland, Soto, Law, O'Malley, Egan, George, McCarrick, MacCormack, Steinbock, Skyland, Pilla, to name only a few, are canonically censored, removed from office, and placed under LIFE house arrest, like pedophile founder of the Legionnaires of Christ, Marciel, in a remote, cold, dark, hard labor, and bad food, monastery, or alternatively if they refuse, swiftly defrocked, and EXCOMMUNICATED, there will be no justice or peace in any kingdom.
No Bishop Accountability? No Laity Monies!

HRH:
The collapse of the evil empire in Orange County will NEVER happen if the Orange Counmty District Attorney and California Attorney General do not take steps toward enforcement and corrective action.
Too many children and vulnerable adults have had their lives and families destroyed because of the evil empire. And, too many former employees of the Diocese of Orange have been punished by the evil empire for speaking out to protect children.
If the OC District Attorney, OC Board of Supervisors and California Attorney make a choice to play the ostrich in ongoing obstructions of justice, perjury, violations of privacy laws, failures to protect children from sex abuse and other danger, legal conflicts of interest, illegal business and employment practices, then all deserve to take full responsibility for any monetary, legal, ethical and moral damages that occur in the future. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Either prosecute and correct those guilty of placing the safety of children at the lowest priority or pay the price for ignoring violations of the law!!!

He said they should come talk to him privately and not in public? What the hell? did he get that suggestion from Urell.. "come here and speak to me in private so i can discard you without anyone knowing"
I know something that is going to happen that is going to be so public, and so embarrassing that you are going to wish you names were never assoicated with this mess mr. cuntingham.
You know not of what you speak. You think you know Urell? You have NO IDEA.
I will give you a hint.. there is a never before heard audio tape. One of the voices you will recognize.
Gustavo, you really should have taken my family member up on the offer last week to meet. Oh well there are plenty of other intersted parties.
