OC Diocese Not Paying Sex-Abuse Victims?

On Oct. 5, Catholic Diocese of Orange Bishop Tod D. Brown announced that the Orange diocese had settled four molestation claims against former lay employees for $6.685 million. Today, the Orange diocese is supposed to pay up--but plaintiff's attorney John Manly says Bishop Brown and his cronies have delayed too long. This morning, Manly sent out a letter to longtime diocesan lawyer (and Orange County's 14th scariest person this year) Peter Callahan expressing outrage over the fact he's not returning Manly's calls regarding the transfer of funds.

"There is no excuse for you or the Bishop to hold the settlement up," Manly writes. "From my past dealings with your firm, I view this as just one more instance of your and your client's desire to further inflict pain on these poor women and further the truth." Manly went on to describe the Church's inaction actions as "toxic vindictiveness that is simply difficult to understand."

Manly and Callahan continue their tango Dec. 3, when Bishop Brown faces contempt-of-court charges.

  1. Angels Are Watching says:

Mr. Manly's adjective use "toxic vindictiveness" is the way a gentleman would describe it.

  2. mgauer says:

Par for the course. When the cameras and microphones are present they say all the right things but their actions are pure evil!

I wish this salient and cogent column, detailing the continued massive obstruction of justice, and overt criminal activity of the Diocese of Orange, CA, to be manifested for all laity to SEE, many blessings of this season.

As the head of the global curial cabal, if I were you laity, with American Thanksgiving coming up in a few days, I'd be giving thanks you are no longer donating any monies to the ongoing criminal enabling of my miters and red hats, as detailed in vetted daily coverage, at:

Save a drum-stick for old Joe, won't you?

    Ciao,

Your Fallible, Yet Unindicted, Co-Conspirator Pope

"Toxic vindictiveness" surrounded by altars, incense, and absolute power.. Gives us a hunch as to how child raping priests managed to thrive for so long in this outfit.

May these women be comforted in knowing that they have forced these churchmen into showing their true faces. May their hearts be assured that their courage will protect so many others, not only from child molestation but from the plague of our ancestors: believing these men to be of God.

Perhaps a novena to St. Anthony might help Mr. Callahan and the Bishop locate their souls.

  5. Debby Bodkin says:

Sadly, the majority of OC Catholics could care less about the sex crimes that destroyed the lives of children and families, thanks to the illegal business and employment practices within the Diocese of Orange. Attorneys Callahan, Schinderle, Ballog, Peffer, Rutherford, Porter, Pleiss and many others working behind closed doors, just get richer by the case while DISCOURAGING public participation in matters relating to the protections of children and the civil rights guaranteed to all persons equally.

Orange County will soon be known as the "Sexual Predator" Capitol of the world -- all because POLITICS took precedent over the protections of children and the rights of Whistleblower employees. And, you can bet your life that if a child and/or family member of Schinderle, Callahan, Peffer, Pleiss or Porter had been sexually abused by a Diocesan employee, none of the illegal and judicial abuses would have ever existed.

When will Bishop Brown's legal eagles, Schinderle, Callahan, Peffer, Pleiss, Rutherford, Porter and those working the backroom deals and collecting referral fees and possibly illegal kickbacks, WAKE UP and take responsibility for their neglience? God bless the four ladies and the many other survivors of sex crimes committed by the politically connected employees supervised by the Diocese of Orange and many other religious institutions. You and your tenacious attorneys are gifts to the protections of those who cannot protect themselves against GOLIATH!

As we approach Thanksgiving day celebrations, may we give thanks for:

** Those speaking out to protect all children, not just their own.
** The children who escaped sexual predators employed by the Diocese.
** The Catholics and non-Catholics demanding that POLITICS never interfere with law enforcement investigations, mandated reporting laws, criminal prosecutions and due process of the law.

TIME FOR LETTERS OF RESIGNATION!!!!!! TIME TO STEP UP!!
