Wow.... this is deja vu! I can still remember the big announcement at St. Edward's when former priest John Lenihan was about to celebrate his first Mass as Pastor of St. Ed's.

Lenihan announed that first day of Mass, to RUMORS about a teenage girl.... most were impressed with Lenihan's ability to confront a sensitive topic head-on. So much more has been revealed since then.

Sadly, there were NEVER any rumors about Lenihan and a teenage girl--there were sex crimes committed against minor children hidden in Diocesan secret files. Do you think the files were being guarded by Maria Schinderle, now the Diocese of Orange General Counsel, and also a member and parishoner at St. Edward's? Mr. Rutherford, an attorney whose firm represents the Diocese of Orange, Callahan, McCune & Willis, is also an active member of the St. Edward's Catholic Church and School community. Do you think he also assisted in the cover up of sex crimes that destroyed the lives of children?

We can all thank the Anaheim Police Department for misplacing and/or losing Lenihan's confession of sex crimes, that were taped.

We clergy abuse victims continue to strive for the rights and safety of children; not by anger or violence, but by the dignity and honor of the written and spoken word, as well as by peaceful demonstrations. On a few occassions, at leaflettings and vigils, we have been verbally insulted, spat upon and a few of our people were even struck by, so called, "Good Catholics"; but we did not fight back. There is nothing more foolish looking than a, so called, "Good Catholic" acting like a bully.
We are, all of us, Children of GOD and we have the right to express ourselves, but by peaceful means, and never by violence.

Msgr. Urell has been pastor at St. Timothy's for a couple of months, but if you want to believe this Sunday is his first day as pastor, go right ahead.
