In a county where ostentatious pomp and circumstance is the rule of the day, few events are more despicable than the Red Mass, an annual event held by the Diocese of Orange where Bishop Tod D. Brown virtually guarantees no prosecution for his pedo-priests by honoring the entire legal system--judges, attorneys, and cops--in a night filled with uniforms. I've written about previous versions of this ceremony (but can't find the damn hyperlink right now...), but none will be as offensive as the one being held this coming Monday. Scheduled to deliver the homily is Thomas Paprocki, a bishop from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Paprocki is infamous amongst sex-abuse survivor circles for a sermon he gave last year during another Red Mass in which he blamed the victims (!) of pedo-priests for the financial pits many Roman Catholic diocese face in the United States. What's more, Paprocki then told his brother bishops and priests at the same Mass, ""We must use our religious discernment to recognize that the principal force behind these attacks is none other than the devil."
Nice, Toddy Brown. Not only is your lead sex-abuse counsel Peter "Callous" Callahan, not only do you tolerate the apologists over at Mater Dei High School, but now you're inviting a degenerate like Paprocki who compares those who seek justice for your hierarchy's many sins to Satan? What's next--you're not going to tell us about allegations of boy-fiddling brought upon you? Oh, wait--that already happened...
ARROGANCE GALORE! says:
Amazing grace continues from the Diocese of Orange multi-million dollar PR campaign and investments to recoup the $100 million plus paid out because of twisted and negligent legal advisors. But the faithful in the pews do not need to worry.... the Red Mass sponsors, politically connected attorneys, law firms and legal vendors with self-serving agendas will come to the rescue for now.... until next year's Red Mass.
Clean your house Brown!!! Until you do, NO CHILD WILL BE SAFE UNDER YOUR CARE. Where is law enforcement

Great ...
What a compassionate embodiment of Brown's Seven Theses. I wonder if the homily will discuss Bishop Brown's near brush with jail, why John Urell needs to hide in Canada, or why the diocese struggled to keep the arrest of Luis Eduardo Ramirez under wraps.
But lest we forget, both Peter Callahan and Maria Rullo Schinderle have won the St. Thomas More Society's award for being attorneys of merit. But perhaps that was because Adolf Eichmann was unavailable.
As a judge, I would consider it my ethical duty to take a stand against this crap. It's okay to be Catholic. It's okay to want to go to Mass and celebrate your faith. What is NOT okay is a public pomp-and-circumstance-grip-and-grin-photo-op with the bishop, when kids are still being raped in the Diocese of Orange. By going, they are giving child rapists a pass. That's unacceptable.
If we had a judicial mass in honor of victims, where judges could parade down the aisle with a child victim, would any members of the bench come? Will any of them be brave enough to come out and talk to victims and their parents outside the Red Mass?
Jesus didn't hang out with the priests. He hung out with the lepers. Maybe the judges - for once - can do the same.

I am glad that you brought up the fact that this bishop sees victims seeking justice as tools of "the devil". Trust me, he is not alone and he is not the only bishop to tell this to his priests and parishioners. This is indicative of a mindset that CANNOT, WILL NOT, MUST NOT admit that it belongs to an evil enterprise. This is not as unusual as you think. My mother lives in Ardsley, PA just outside Philadelphia and the parish priest has used this same line of reasoning to the parish during Mass several times.
Thanks for reporting on this. Unbelieveable isn't it?

Tragically, no one seems to connect the dots when it relates to the fact that the OC District Attorney Rackauckas, his political advisor and Public Affairs Counsel, are all tightly connected with the Catholic Diocese of Orange. Maybe that is why Rackauckas refused to prosecute pedophile Michael Harris, or maybe why he let former Judge Pamela Iles handle the sex abuse case of Michael Sandoval, a former teacher at Santa Margarita Catholic, or maybe why Gary Pohlson, Esq. works the OC judicial bench via manipulation, Judge shopping and you scratch my back and I will scratch yours.
OOPS... almost forgot--don't forget the fact that Diocesan General Counsel and Callahan paid a sexual predator, Jeff Andrade, $100,000 to drop a defamation lawsuit against the Diocese.... where is Rackauckas now? Where is Schroeder? Where is the OC Sheriff? ALL IN BED TOGETHER!!
How can any sex abuse victim molested in Orange County come forward and report sex crimes by the politically connected Diocese of Orange employees??? So many courageous angels that stood up to the evil Diocese... and now other kids are safe--NO THANKS TO BROWN, CALLAHAN, SCHINDERLE AND POHLSON'S VIOLATIONS OF THE LAW!
Why doesn't Rackauckas prosecute Brown, Calalhan, Schinderle and Pohlson??? Because they are share Catholicism, whether it violates the U.S. Constitution or not! Parents... watch over your children because Bishop Brown, Schinderle and Callahan could care less -- they are too busy rebuilding the Diocesan financial portfolio from the $100 million in donations.

Sent this to the St. Thomas More Society of Orange County Board of Directors yesterday.
No response to date.
And, since the Los Angeles Catholic Lawyers Association has refused me the opportunity to dialog with their newly created non-profit, legal eagle CLUB, my next letter will be sent to them.
SHOULD I HOLD MY BREATH FOR A RESPONSE? Absolutely not. It appears all the attorneys associated with the Red Mass, Bishop Brown and Diocese of Orange General Counsel IGNORE, PRETEND and DENY receipt of letters regarding serious civil rights violations and failures to protect our precious children.

Re: 2008 Red Mass - October 6, 2008
To St. Thomas More Society Board of Directors:
This letter is a formal request to cease all public advertising for the upcoming Red Mass scheduled for October 6, 2008. As an advocate for clergy sex abuse victims, their families and mandated reporters, the duty to protect the integrity of the justice process is your responsibility as licensed attorneys and officers of the court. However, after reviewing the Red Mass sponsorship list for 2008, I commenced reviewing the sponsorship lists for 2002, 2003, 2004, 3005, 2006 and 2007, also posted on the St. Thomas More Society website. The more I research the patterns between and associations amongst Red Mass attorneys, Judges and law firms, especially the public sponsors of the annual Red Mass Event, there is an obvious appearance of bias based on religion.
As you may or may not be aware, sex abuse crimes committed by leaders of one's religious faith are very complex emotionally, spiritually, physically and legally. Most often, it takes many years for victims of sex abuse crimes to remember and/or understand the betrayals of trust and the life-long effects. Clergy sex abuse crimes destroy not only its victims but generations of families if the proper guidance, justice and healing is delayed for any reason.
Whether a legal conflict of interest exists or not as it relates to the St. Thomas More Society's insistence in publicing tooting the horns of Orange County legal professionals, I cannot help but wonder how a sex abuse victim would find the courage to report sex crimes or other violations of the law, committed by those connected to the St. Thomas More Society's Red Mass sponsors. In sum, the sponsorship list consists of MANY Orange County Judges, attorneys and law firms. In my opinion, there appears to be a conflict and/or preferential treatment to say the least.
For the reasons stated herein, please return trust in the Orange County Superior Court bench by issuing a public statement encouraging victims of crimes to report wrongdoing. Afterall, the St. Thomas More Red Mass sponsorship lists for 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2002 are overwhelming and reflects an appearance of bias, especially if you are a Catholic seeking justice in an Orange County court of law. To be very honest, if I were a crime victim, it would be very difficult to overcome the Catholic and political influences in Orange County, California.
The history and celebration of the Red Mass is beautiful. As Americans, we are privileged to exercise religious freedom. However, nothing is peaceful when you have been sexually abused or denied due process by an individual protected by an army of Red Mass attorneys and Judges. In the interests of the fair administration of justice and the protections of those who cannot protect themselves, please consider anonymous Red Mass sponsorships in the future. Afterall, there is no doubt in my mind that Jesus would anonymously sponsor the Red Mass event.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at XXXXX or bodkind@hotmail.com.
Best regards,
Debby Bodkin

This Is Nothing!!!!! Roger Mahony is having his Red Mass at, of all places , The Chapel of Saint John's Seminary. You Remember Saint John's? The place that trained all those pervert priests for Los Angeles and then set them loose on a unsuspecting world of children? YUP! That's The Place!!! Quite a few of those pervert priest came from the same class as Roger Mahony too. However, it doesn't matter if the Red Masses are held in Orange County, L.A. County, or in the Vatican; the smoke of satan will be present. Oh yes, wherever priests are, satan will be close at hand.

I don't think most lawyers and judges who attend this function have any idea how devstating it is to victims to watch judges dressed in black robes attend a religious service hosted by those who actively concealed their molesters from law enforcement. . The legal system has largely, (save a few successful civil lawsuits) completely failed the victims. Out of the doizens of priests who molested little boys and girls in Orange a grand total of one has gone to prison in 30 years.
In the last few weeks a pedophile priest serving in the Diocese of Orange was allowed to plead guilty to "misdemeanor commercial burglary" after sexual assaulting a young boy in an Anaheim motel room. The assault featured the use of tequilla and porn as well. He will not be required to register as a sex offender. What everyday citizen gets that deal? Answer: No one!
The assault happened in the City of Anaheim. It was prosecuted by the Anaheim City Attorney's office. (incidentally a member of that office is listed by the Diocese as a Red Mass Sponsor.) Interestingly so is the Diocesan attorney. What has the "tough on crime" Anaheim mayor Curt Pringle said? Not word one. Not a press statement. No expression of regret, concern or otherwise. Amazing.
Officers of the court, which includes judges and lawyers, attending any service in their official capacity hosted by Bishop Todd Brown and someone with the record of Bishop Paprocki is in my opinion poor judgement. They are unwittingly signally to abuse survivors they come second and we as officers of the court will protect the Church. I am absolutely certain that is not their intent but nevertheless that is how it is percievied by many victims. That should be enough for judges and attorneys to pass on this service.

I think it would be fitting if a list of the names of all the pedophile priests for each diocese were read at each Red Mass, along with the number of children that priest had sexually violated. It would even be fitting to have the names of victims (those victims who would not mind their names being read aloud) ; and then a bell chiming for each child on the list. I would gladly add my name to that list, and it would be fitting that the lists be read out loud in churches. After all, I was sexually violated in the church and in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament. It would seem to me to be a Celebration of Justice being done, even in spite of all the dirty tricks Mahony, Brown and Brom and their "Boot Lickers" tried to put over on us.

1) "The (Infamous) Boy's Club" of the Chicago Archdiocese, still thriving, under Francis George, of which Paprocki is a serial pedo member, is still alive and well, and even silenced Sun-Times Rog Mahal Mahony buddy and apologists Fr. Andrew Greeley...under a direct DEATH THREAT.
2) St. John's is home to CRISCO parties, gay orgies, and pedo indoctrination (per Robert Brom sworn testimony directly implicating both Brown and Mahony as in attendance and in condoning this illegal and immoral behavior or ordained, and ordained to be).

John Manly, you are a hero for victims! Can't thank you enough for exposing clergy predators in OC!
Having said that, I'm not convinced as you that members of the legal community are "unwittingly" signally to abuse survivors that they come second (more like last, in my opinion) and we as officers of the court will protect the Church. Look at their actions you that you so clearly pointed out-- One priest sent to jail in 30 yrs for child sex abuse????
And I'm far from certain that their intent in participating in the RED MASS is not to discourage victims. But, intentionally or not, is how it is percievied by many victims. And I think it should be also be perceived that way by the people of Orange County--that your kids safety also comes last.
Will Raukakas be dressing up and attending the event to prayer for forgiveness for his sins from a pedophile king pin ?
I agree that Judges and attorneys should pass on this service.

p.s.
I don't think judges and attorneys attending the RED MASS need any one (especially a clergy abuse victims' attorney) defending/apologing for their insenstive and irresponsible actions.
thats' what I think you may unwittingly be doing.

The Blessed Virgin has alerted us against apostasy in the Church. Fr. Alonso, official archivist of Fatima for 16 years, refers to the crisis of faith within the Church and to the negligence of the pastors themselves [and the] internal struggles in the very bosom of the Church and of grave pastoral negligence of the upper hierarchy.
These minions are fulfilling it.

There is but ONE WAY, THROUGH CHRIST, to solve this curia made mess; remove them through laity withholding of all revenues, even if it takes several generations.
