Survey Says...Not Much

We recently heard from a reader in Santa Ana who received a copy of the "Republican Party Census Document," along with an introductory letter from the RNC stating that "your answers will represent the views and opinions of ALL Republican voters living in your voting district...Unless we hear from YOU, we will not have an accurate BLUEPRINT -- a full legislative agenda and campaign plan -- and a unified Republican Party.""

Problem is, our reader is not now nor has she ever been a registered Republican. However, it's hard to imagine the survey actually matters in determining a platform, since every question is so ridiculously skewed. A few samples, after the jump...

Bear in mind that these are multiple choice questions, with the answer options being yes, no, and undecided.

"Should Republicans do everything they can to prevent liberal Democrats from repealing the USA Patriot Act and other important laws that help our intelligence agencies protect America?"

"Do you agree that we must stop illegal immigration?"

"Should Republicans fight for a balanced budget?"

"Do you think U.S. troops should have to serve under United Nations' commanders?"

"Should Republicans in Congress oppose the new, wasteful government spending programs proposed by the Democrats and their leaders, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid?"

They really could have saved a lot of time by simply asking one question -- should the Republican Party take the same positions it always has in recent memory? I suspected for a moment that this census might actually be a fake put out by Democrats in order to scare undecided voters, but no, you can see part of it online at www.gop.com/2008census.

The best part of the survey, however, comes at the end: "Will you join the Republican National Committee by making a contribution today?" The reader is given the choice of three options..

-"Yes, I support the RNC and am enclosing my most generous contribution...[possible amounts are then listed]"

-"Yes, I support the RNC, but I am unable to participate at this time. However, I have enclosed $11 to cover the cost of tabulating my survey"

-"No, I favor electing liberal Democrats over the next ten years." [eleven bucks keeps that from happening? What a deal!]

We don't know how they're getting names and addresses of non-Republican voters, but word to the wise, RNC -- the business-as-usual slant probably isn't going to win any of them over.

Said reader might want to check with the County Registrar of Voters to make certain that she wasn't re-registered by signing a petition.
The OC GOP has done this in the recent past.

  2. Joe, just a dumb country boy from Alabama, that votes Republican, most of time. says:

Good grief, it's a marketing effort to raise funds to defeat the goonies with a warped idea of how to give away this country to others, domestic and foreign, whose main goal appears to be to bring this country down!

If we, as stewards of this great country, succomb this madness, where would you prefer to live?

Tell me please, I want to consider your relocation possibilities, truly.

Can you not see the wonderful benefits that this great country has provided for you, your family and your ancestors?

If you don't align yourself with the consersative ideology (and all of its common-sense, very basic values of real life) of the conservative Republican movement, then why waste your time on trival comments about "Marketing" efforts to raise money for this cause? If not from "grass-roots" campaign money, where would you prefer the money come from? Tell me, please!

Just trash the marketing solicitation (in your recycled paper bin... you Do recycle, right?) directed towards those who may be concerned about wholesome, family, Christian values that formed this great country and democracy that YOU now enjoy... as well as many others now who are not of this persuasion.

This country, and all its benefits that you enjoy, was not designed by whiners and those that want to give everything we enjoy away to others that have not given anything in return!

Instead it was formed, built, developed and nourished with major sacrifice, with blood! Do you really understand what that means?

Conversely, there ane many that enjoy the benefits of this wonderful and free country that promote only demise and destruction of all that has made the USA what it is. And I might add, a place that everyone else in the world wants to come and live! Doesn't this make you wonder why?

It's our past, our history, our positions on issues in the past, not the future, that has influenced all of the millions of people that have immagreted and want to immagret to the USA.

Trash the "marketing" solication if you're offended, and consider yourself privilaged and honored that you, at some point, were considered one of those of us that want to preserve this great country.

I do not march in lock-step with all Republicans, or Republican platforms, albeit most, as there are a few positions that I personally would like to see a little different with Republicans.

However, it appears to me that Republicans offer the most basic, common-sense approach way to preserve what has made this country the envy of the entire world, and all of the oppressed people that try to come here, every day!

Show me a better platform of ideas and positions, and I will be eager to consider them, and willingly consider them!

Me... I have donated a whopping $50 (which is all this "poor" Republican-most-of-the-time can afford to send to the RNC) to fight for the ideas and values this country was built upon, that I hold dearly.

These Ideas and Values will preserve this country, and its great OPPORTUNITIES and benefits, for my children, their children, and their children, and other children from legal immigrants from other countries, which was the case with my family several generations ago.

Please consider All aspects of the RNC Marketing solicitation (and even though it is one of those mass-mailing type of solicitations, still I am somewhat flattered that I am on their list).

Before you quickly pass harse critism or blame upon on Republicans (a typical thing that modern-day Democrats seem to do), that you were among 20-40 million other Americans that were considered as a possibility of those who are really, truly concerned about what it takes to preserve this great country, please pause and consider the whole picture.

And yes, I agree, the questions, were slanted, even begged for a specific answer, but is this not the purpose of a "marketing" effort?

And a footnote: generally, my ancestors have been of modest means, job-oriented, working-class legal immigrant Americans that just want to do their part to preserve and perpetuate this great country.

Instead of "whining" about a "marketing" solicitation, get active, get informed with the Facts, and perhaps, just perhaps, you may see through the crap that Liberals and Democrats spew out like a volcano!

    Sincerely, and Respectfully,
