Camp Kids Kicked Out of A Private Pool in Philly for Being Black -- Would This Happen in OC?

Well, I think we all know what happened here.
1. A well-meaning club official figures that he will expose inner-city kids to "the good things in life" by permitting them to use the pool.
2. The kids show up and, naturally, they're excited. They're probably making a lot of noise and generally being animated. Let's be clear here - this isn't a "black people are loud" point. This is a "kids who never get to go swimming are excited" point.
3. The kids may not know basic pool etiquette such as no running on the deck or no diving in the shallow area. This alarms the "locals" who act quickly to remove their kids from the area.
4. Members pressure the club administration to rescind the invitation.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 2:16PMprobably not since most pools here not in backyards are in gated communities owned by HOA's where access is restricted to homeowners only....or at apartment complexes where the pool is a benefit of residence (so the inhabitants regardless of immigration status have access to the pool)...
Truly public facilities are just that-owned by the public and otherwise open to residents of the city .
whats appalling here is that this facility is privately owned and the day camp paid for their campers to use the facility-and it was rescinded a day later...and the comments made by the manager blew the thing up...
