Urban Decay Voted Most Animal-Friendly Cosmetics Company
Urban Decay was one of 30 winners at peta2's third annual Libby Awards (for "liberation") honoring animal-friendly people and products. Awards for Best Vegan Shoes, Best Vegan Junk Food, Best Student Group, Best Hip-Hop Artist and Person of the Year (Pink!) were also doled out. The cosmetics company joins its fellow honorees in receiving a plaque and mention on peta2.com.
"Urban Decay is meeting the demand for cosmetics that are fun and animal-friendly," Lara Sanders, peta2's assistant marketing manager, says in a press statement. "At Urban Decay, compassion comes free with every purchase."
They won, the statement reads, "[b]ecause Urban Decay Cosmentics' funky and glam products are never tested on bunnies' eyes or pumped into beagles' tummies." The company's Good Karma brushes are not made of boar bristles, horse hair or other animal hair, notes peta2, which claims to be the world's largest youth animal rights organization, counting more than 500,000 members.
