I will open by stating that i am an employee of UCI. I am very simpathetic to those encountering hate-mongering attitudes and hostile engagements from complete strangers - who always go out of their way "to make a scene". But after reading this article I must say, Ms. Tuchman's charges of Anti-Semitism seem over inflated. The (possibly abbreviated?)discriptions of these "hate-crimes" appear to be little more than immature teenagers. Hateful, but not a crime. "And this one time, A boy threw a rock at me. And this one time, Someone called me a "dirty Jew". And I heard that someone invited the KKK to speak near my house". Whah, whah. Being a gay man, I am acutely aware of hostile environments and have experienced Hate Crime. What Ms. Tuchman describes (at least here) simply does not cut it.
